<p>The Tata Punch facelift has scored a five-star rating in the Bharat NCAP crash test, giving buyers another strong reason to look at the compact SUV. Safety has become a major talking point in this segment, and the Punch continues to stay in focus for the right reasons. In the latest tests, the model secured 30.58 points out of 32 for adult occupant protection and 45 points out of 49 for child occupant protection. Bharat NCAP carried out a full set of impact tests to check how the car performs in everyday crash situations. With this result, the Punch facelift now sits among the safer options available in its price range.</p>

<p>In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the <a href="https://www.autox.com/upcoming-tata-cars/">Tata</a> Punch facelift scored 14.71 points out of 16. This test mainly checks how the front structure and restraints protect occupants during a head-on impact. The side movable deformable barrier test saw the car score 15.87 points out of 16. Bharat NCAP also conducted the side pole impact assessment, where the Punch met all protection requirements under the current protocol.</p>

<h2>Tata Sierra Exterior Design &amp; Road Presence</h2>

<p>There’s a distinct pull the moment you first lay eyes on the new Sierra. Its boxy silhouette makes for a bold stance, giving it presence in a segment where most rivals look homogenised. The design pays homage of sorts to the original, with hints of the classic upright stance and signature rear Alpine windows. </p><p>

    </p><p>The front fascia is futuristic, ultra-slim LED headlights sit above a bold grille, while the lightsaber LED DRLs and connected rear LED bar lend a distinctive lighting signature. The new 19-inch alloy wheels and roof rails add a rugged flavour. It’s among the tallest, widest and longest in its class, translating into a commanding road presence and generous interior space.</p>

<h2>Tata Sierra Interior, Space &amp; Comfort</h2>

<p>Stepping inside the Sierra signals a departure from the regular Tata interiors. There’s a sense of occasion, with premium materials and thoughtful execution. The highlight is undoubtedly the triple-screen setup on higher trims, a 12.3-inch central touchscreen flanked by a 10.25-inch digital cluster and a 12.3-inch passenger display. The screens offer a crisp, intuitive interface, and Tata has added features like wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay. Tata also lets you connect the passenger screen separately via wireless headphones, independent of the central infotainment screen.</p><p>

    </p><p>The steering wheel is borrowed from Tata’s other new-age cars and feels right at home in the Sierra as well, complete with an illuminated centre logo. Although I am still not a big fan of gloss-black finishes on the steering, which are tough to maintain and prone to scratches. The seats are spacious and supportive, with manually extendable under-thigh support up front and a reclining rear bench that comfortably accommodates three adults. The passenger sitting on the rear-left side also benefits from ‘Boss Mode’, which allows them to move the front seat with ease. The light-coloured dual-tone upholstery will be a pain to keep clean over the years. Thoughtful touches like rear window blinds, dedicated AC vents, and multiple USB chargers reinforce the Sierra’s family-centric design. With 450 litres of luggage space, and up to 1,250 litres with the rear seats folded, luggage capacity is generous and practical.</p>

      
    
      
    


<h2>Tata Sierra Features, Technology &amp; Safety</h2>

<p>Tata has clearly thrown in a laundry list of features in the Sierra. The top-spec variant ticks off a long checklist that includes a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, wireless phone charging, a 12-speaker JBL system with Dolby Atmos that delivers a great aural experience, and Level 2 ADAS tech. </p><p>

<h2>Tata Sierra Engine Options &amp; Performance Review</h2>

<p>The Sierra’s engine lineup includes a new 1.5-litre Hyperion turbo-petrol engine along with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated unit and a 1.5-litre diesel. I drove the turbo-petrol variant along with the diesel, and between the two, it is an easy choice. It is, of course, the Hyperion turbo-petrol that offers good refinement, strong acceleration, and decent tractability. The lag is nearly non-existent, and the 6-speed Aisin automatic gearbox does a decent job of holding on to the gears as you tap on the throttle for an overtake.</p><p>

<p>Coming to the diesel, it feels significantly more lethargic than the turbo-petrol and is noisier, too. Surprisingly, the diesel engine lacks that typical mid-range dollop of grunt that you would want from, well, a diesel engine. Acceleration is slower, too, and you feel near-constant vibrations from the engine at all times. It will likely be the more frugal option, but if performance is what you seek, then the turbo-petrol is what you should consider.</p>

      
    
      
    
<h2>Tata Sierra Ride Quality, Handling &amp; Off-Road Ability</h2>

<p>The Sierra’s chassis strikes a supple balance. Tata’s engineers have dialled in a suspension setup that soaks up broken urban roads with composure yet doesn’t feel floaty on open stretches. Frequency-dependent dampers help tame body movement and reinforce confidence on twisty roads.</p><p>

    </p><p>While steering feedback isn’t razor-sharp, it’s predictable and feels reassuring at speed. A ground clearance of 205mm keeps scrubs at bay on rougher terrain, and the Sierra even tackled light off-road sections with confidence.</p>

<h2>Tata Sierra Price, Variants &amp; Value Proposition</h2>

<p>The Sierra’s pricing strategy is premium rather than being disruptive. The prices start at Rs 11.49 lakh and go up to Rs 21.29 lakh. The diesel variants start at Rs 12.99 lakh, and the turbo-petrol variants are priced from Rs 17.99 lakh, which I think could have been more aggressive. Also, there’s no DCT with the turbo-petrol; it is only available on the 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated engine option, which is a miss.</p><p>

    </p><p>There are a few nitpicks, though. The road and tyre noise are intrusive at times, the diesel engine isn’t the quietest, and some rivals feel sharper when it comes to driving dynamics. But the Sierra’s many strengths, coupled with its emotional appeal, make it a good choice in the mid-size SUV space. With prices of the 2026 Kia Seltos and the new Mahindra XUV 7XO announced, the Sierra has its work cut out. The fact that the prices of the Hyundai Creta undercuts the Sierra's only makes its job that much tougher.</p>

      
    
      
    


<h2>Tata Sierra Review Verdict</h2>

<p>The 2026 Sierra is much more than just a reboot. It blends old-school Sierra appeal with thoughtful modernity. From its bold design to tech-rich cabin and refined turbo-petrol performance, the Sierra offers something that feels both familiar and excitingly new. If the build quality and long-term reliability pass the test of time, the Sierra nameplate could very well have a new legend to its story.</p><p>

The return of the Tata Sierra nameplate is now old news. The question to ask is: will it pose a problem for its rivals, old and new? We believe it will. 

<p>Tata Motors has revealed the full variant lineup of the Punch facelift ahead of its launch on 13 January 2026. The updated micro SUV will be offered in six trims: Smart, Pure, Pure+, Adventure, Accomplished, and Accomplished+ S. Prices will be announced on launch day. From what is on offer, Tata is aiming to make the Punch appeal to a wide range of buyers. </p><p>There is a version for first-time car owners, one for regular city use, and others for buyers who want more comfort and technology. The facelift focuses on adding features, improving safety, and updating the design, while keeping the Punch familiar and easy to live with in everyday driving conditions.</p><h2><strong>Tata Punch Facelift: Smart&nbsp;</strong></h2><p>The Smart variant is the starting point, yet it covers the basics well. It gets six airbags as standard, LED headlamps, and a new steering wheel design. Eco and City drive modes allow you to choose how the car responds in traffic. Safety and control come from ESC and indirect TPMS, while remote keyless entry adds daily convenience. This variant is aimed at buyers who want a safe and simple compact SUV.</p><h2><strong>Tata Punch Facelift:&nbsp;Pure</strong></h2><p>

<p>The hatchback segment in India isn’t what it used to be. These days, all the action is happening in the SUV and even MPV segments (see our cover). So, it’s a rare treat when we get to review a new hatchback. And it’s even more exciting when that hatchback comes with a diesel engine.</p>

<p>I spent a day with both the diesel and CNG versions of the recently launched Tata Altroz facelift. The new model comes with some tweaks while retaining some of the standout qualities of the outgoing version.</p>

<p>So, how much better is the new Altroz, and how does it stack up against rivals in the same price bracket? Time to find out.</p>

<h2>Tata Altroz Facelift Exterior Updates</h2>

<p>The dimensions of the Altroz remain unchanged, but the styling has received a notable update. There’s a clear emphasis on blacked-out elements, visible on the front end and the newly designed 16-inch alloy wheels. The LED headlamps now sport a sharper, more modern design, enhancing the overall look.</p><p>

    </p><p>Further adding to the contemporary appeal are the front flush door handles and connected tail lamps. While I wasn’t particularly taken with the design when I first saw the photos, I have to admit it looks significantly better in person. This is yet another attractively styled offering from Tata – something that’s become the norm of late. That said, I’d still consider swapping out the black alloys. They currently give off a bit too much of an EV vibe for my liking.</p>







<h2>Tata Altroz Facelift Interior Features &amp; Updates</h2>

<p>The dashboard has been redesigned and looks rather impressive. It houses a 10.25-inch touchscreen that was free of any lag during our time with the hatch. This unit supports wireless smartphone connectivity and includes a 65W USB-C port at the front, with another provided for the second row – a thoughtful addition that laptop users will certainly appreciate.</p><p>

    </p><p>Tata has also introduced their illuminated, two-spoke steering wheel into the mix. The AC controls have been moved to a touch panel, which also houses buttons for switching to CNG mode and for activating the 360-degree camera. It’s great to see Tata offering a surround-view camera – the feed quality is decent – though the obstacle detection system does need some calibration. During our test, even when reversing on a flat, empty tarmac, the system repeatedly flagged non-existent obstacles and triggered warning alerts. An electronic sunroof and a larger ambient light strip further add to the interior appeal.</p>







<p>While you still get fabric seats, they provide excellent support and cushioning, particularly due to the new extensions at the base that offer better under-thigh support. This feature is also present in the rear seats. However, I do feel Tata missed a trick by not including powered &amp; ventilated front seats in this update.</p><p>

    </p><p>The second-row space is adequate, though knee room may feel just about enough for taller passengers. One surprising omission is the absence of a weight sensor on the rear bench. As a result, the seatbelt warning system requires the rear seat belts to be buckled even when no one is seated at the back – otherwise, the alarm keeps beeping.</p>







<h2>Tata Altroz Diesel &amp; CNG Driving Review</h2>

<p>The new Altroz is available with a choice between a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine, both offering the same outputs as before. The petrol variant is also offered with a CNG option, although the more powerful turbo-petrol version is yet to be introduced.</p><p>

<p>Notably, the Altroz remains the only hatchback to offer a diesel powertrain – a welcome change, especially given how punchy this motor is. It cruises effortlessly at highway speeds; however, at higher revs, engine noise and vibrations do become apparent. Both petrol and diesel engines suffer from a lack of low-end pulling power, which is noticeable in everyday driving.</p>

<p>The petrol engine is now available with a 5-speed AMT, while the CNG and diesel variants are paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. While the gear shifts are generally easy, the throws are long, and there’s an occasional grinding sound mid-shifts. So, while the engine itself is reasonably competent, there haven’t been any notable improvements in terms of how it behaves.</p><p>

<p>What does stand out, however, is the ride quality. Tata continues to deliver some of the best suspension setups in the business – the Altroz handles bumps with impressive composure while still offering good grip around faster corners. It may not be an outright driver’s car, but it comes remarkably close.</p>

<h2>Tata Altroz Facelift Price &amp; Verdict</h2>

<p>The new Altroz remains a well-rounded package – just as it always was. The refreshed styling and updated features make an even stronger case for it in today’s market. Even the introductory starting price of ₹ 6.89 lakh (ex-showroom) is quite competitive.</p>

<p>That said, the higher trims do feel a bit pricey and could have offered a few more features to justify the premium. If you’re looking for a diesel hatchback, the Altroz stands as your default choice. Tata Altroz Facelift First Drive Review - Still Got the Juice?

It’s not often you see a new hatchback in 2025, let alone one powered by diesel. But Tata has refreshed the Altroz, and we have driven both the diesel and CNG versions to see if it still delivers.

<p><em><strong>Incessant rainfall and waterlogged roads are not the ideal conditions to test an EV! Well, how bad could it be?&nbsp;</strong></em></p>

<p>Who knew that a receding Monsoon could almost flood a city like Delhi? And while it may be hard to believe, it did indeed happen. And it was amid such conditions that <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/tata/" target="_blank">Tata</a> invited us to have a go in its latest EV – the 2021 Tigor. Apart from the usual weekday traffic, fate had something unusual planned for us and for the testing of this promising EV – by the time we started shooting, I found myself wading through knee-deep water, but as they say, ‘the show must go on.’</p>

<p>Anyway, let’s direct our attention to the EV in question here. After tasting success in the passenger EV space with the Nexon EV, Tata Motors has now expanded the line-up by launching the new Tigor EV. It’s based on Tata’s Ziptron EV platform and is, therefore, much more advanced and refined than its predecessor. Tata gave me&nbsp;the car for a day to drive around town, and this is what I&nbsp;discovered…</p>

<p><strong>Performance</strong></p>

<p>Powering the new Tigor EV is an IP67-rated 26kWh liquid-cooled Li-ion battery pack, which helps the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) send 74bhp and 170Nm of torque to the front wheels. Now, compared to the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/tata/nexon-ev/" target="_blank">Nexon EV</a>, the Tigor EV gets a smaller battery pack, which also means lower power and torque figures. However, the figures seem inadequate only on paper, for in real life, the Tigor EV offers enough performance to keep you smiling. In fact, play around with the drive modes a bit, and that smile will turn into a proper grin! And why not? After all, the Sports mode allows you to unleash the full potential of the Ziptron architecture. So, if you find yourselves racing between traffic lights in the Sports mode, don’t worry, you’re not to be blamed for it – we know how addictive it can be. Joking aside, while a claimed 0 – 60km/h time of 5.7 seconds isn’t too bad, what’s more impressive is the ARAI-certified driving range of 306kms.</p>

<p><strong>Driving Range</strong></p>

<p>During the test, the Tigor EV had to face several challenging scenarios, ranging from waterlogged roads to trundling in heavy traffic. Despite all this, I never experienced the so-called ‘range anxiety’ because the range indicator turned out to be pretty accurate when I compared its readouts to the actual distances covered. Now, there were some instances of a few kilometres – at times more than expected – vanishing from the range, especially after long periods of being idle in the drive-ready mode. But other than these minor episodes, there was nothing to cause concern – not only did I manage to get back to the hotel after the day’s shoot without visiting a charging station but also without completely depleting the range – in fact, the car still had a lot of unused kilometres.</p>

<p>The <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/tata/tigor-ev/" target="_blank">Tigor EV</a> comes with a CCS2 connector. It can be charged from 0 – 80% in 8 hours 45 minutes using a standard 15A plug point and in just 65 minutes with a 25kW DC fast charger.</p>

<p><strong>Features</strong></p>

<p>Given that the top-spec XZ+ Dual-Tone variant costs ₹13.14 lakh (ex-showroom), one would expect to find an appreciable list of premium features on offer. And the Tigor EV very well meets the expectation. From projector headlamps, LED DRLs, a smart key with push-button start, a cooled glove box, and powered auto-folding ORVMs to an electric boot release and a 7-inch Harman touchscreen infotainment system with an eight-speaker setup, there’s plenty to look forward to. The build quality is solid – barring a few plastic panels in the cabin, which could do with better fitment – and the cabin has a plush air to it. A special mention goes to the audio system for its stellar sound quality.</p>

<p>And if you think that the list of features stops here, well, let me add that the Tigor <a href="https://www.autox.com/electric-cars-in-india/" target="_blank">EV</a> also offers regenerative braking, Hill Ascent &amp; Descent Assist, and Tata’s iRA connected car tech with up to 35 features that can be accessed and operated via Tata Motors’ ZConnect smartphone app.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Handling</strong></p>

<p>Now, I’ve driven quite a few vehicles in my professional career, but only a handful of them left me as impressed as I was with the Tigor EV. In terms of driving dynamics, the car is quite hard to fault. Add to this mix super comfortable seats and a perfect suspension setup, and what you get is an electric sedan that can more or less do anything you want it to – it can even wade through knee-deep water and come out unscathed. Despite being low rolling resistance units, the Apollo Amazer XP tyres also performed well and offered good levels of grip, even on soaking wet roads.</p>

<p><strong>Scope For Improvement</strong></p>

<p>While it may look like all straight A’s on the report card, the Tigor EV&nbsp;does have some scope for improvement. For example, it isn’t a particularly attractive car to look at, despite all the Ziptron-induced EV-specific changes. And the tiny 14-inch wheels, which are not alloys even in the top variant, make things worse – they actually look like milk-bottle caps. Other than that, the rear parking camera could do with better quality and resolution, and the front passenger seat, which does not get a height adjuster, can be uncomfortable for tall folks, as it’s set quite high, leaving very little headroom.</p>

<p>However, if you can overlook these relatively minor shortcomings, the Tigor EV makes for a great entry point into the world of electric cars.</p>
