Kawasaki has launched the updated version of its 650cc sports tourer in India. The changes are mostly cosmetic, which means that the Kawasaki Ninja 650 continues to be the same mechanically.

Kawasaki India has launched the 2022 model (MY22) of the Ninja 650 sports-tourer. The updated model is priced at Rs 6.61 lakh (ex-showroom) which is Rs 7,000 more than the price of the outgoing model.

With the MY22 updates, the sports-tourer now gets a new colour scheme – Pearl Robotic White, which is a combination of matte Black and White, with Green highlights on the fairing panels, fuel tank, and alloy wheels.

Kawasaki continues to offer the Lime Green colour scheme with a slight change. The belly panel now gets White colour graphics as opposed to the Yellow honeycomb pattern of the predecessor. This colour scheme is basically a black-and-green combination, with red pinstripes on the fairing, panels, and cowls.

Mechanically, the 2022 Kawasaki Ninja continues to be the same as before. A 649cc parallel-twin engine powers the motorcycle, with 67bhp and 64Nm at disposal. The gearbox here is a six-speed unit. The MY22 continues to have a slipper clutch on offer. Other mechanical bits have been carried over as well, such as a twin-disc brake setup at the front and a single disc assembly at the rear.

The dashboard has a 4.3-inch all-digital TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity. Using the ‘Rideology’ smartphone application, the rider can access a few features of the motorcycle remotely. The rider seat height is marked at 790mm, and the motorcycle tips the scale at 196kg (kerb).

The 2022 Kawasaki Ninja continues to rival 2021 the Honda CBR650R. While the CBR650R is expensive than the 2022 Ninja, they both are still classified under the 650cc segment. The Ninja 650 also competes with the CFMoto 650GT, which is priced at  Rs 5.59 lakh (ex-showroom).
