Aprilia Tuono 457 Spotted

Italian motorcycle manufacturer Aprilia launched the made-in-India sportbike, the RS 457, at the India Bike Week in Goa. Now, the bikemaker is increasing its efforts in the middleweight segment with the street naked derivative of the sportbike. In a testament to this, the test mule of the Aprilia Tuono 457 has been spotted testing in Europe, revealing its design, engine, hardware, and more.

Based on the spy images, the Tuono 457 has a circular headlamp, flatter handlebars, a single-piece seat, neutral-set footpegs, a twin-pod taillamp, and exposed mechanical components. Speaking of mechanicals, the Tuono 457 will share the platform and engine with its fully-faired sibling.

Powering the naked bike will be the familiar 457cc, parallel twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine mated to a 6-speed gearbox and a slip-and-assist clutch. This engine in the RS 457 produces 48bhp and 44Nm of peak torque.

The test mule featured an upside-down front fork and a single rear shock absorber positioned on the side of the swingarm. However, expect the production-spec bike to get a centrally-mounted mono-shock at the back. The braking hardware comprised discs at both ends, a 4-piston radial calliper at the front and a single-piston floating calliper at the rear.

In terms of features, the Tuono 457 is expected to offer a TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity as well as riding modes. Other bits could be backlit switchgear, traction control, a quick-shifter, and ride-by-wire tech.

While the bikemaker has yet to reveal the launch details, the new Aprilia Tuono 457 is expected to make its way into the country sometime in 2024. Price-wise, it could be slightly less expensive than the RS 457, which currently retails at Rs 4.10 lakh (ex-showroom).
