Ather Energy has announced that its cruise control technology, dubbed Infinite Cruise, will now be offered on the popular 450X electric scooter. The feature, previously reserved for the flagship 450 Apex, will also be rolled out to existing 450X scooters via an over-the-air (OTA) software update. The Bengaluru-based EV manufacturer has confirmed that all 450X scooters purchased from January 1, 2025, onwards will be eligible for the update, with users receiving an on-screen alert on the scooter’s dashboard once it becomes available.
For the uninitiated, Ather introduced Infinite Cruise during its annual Community Day event in August last year, with an aim to enhance riding comfort by maintaining a steady speed without continuous throttle input, especially useful during long urban commutes and open-road stretches.
Ather’s Infinite Cruise claims to be more flexible than conventional cruise control systems. It stays engaged when the rider brakes or accelerates, and automatically recalibrates to the new speed instead of switching off.

The system makes city riding smoother, especially in heavy traffic, while reducing constant throttle use. It works across a wide speed range, from 10km/h to 90km/h. Moreover, Ather’s Infinite Cruise brings together multiple ride-support systems. These include CityCruise for adjusting to traffic speed changes, and Hill Control to maintain a consistent pace on slopes using regenerative braking.
The Crawl Control allows for steady movement at low speeds on rough surfaces. Multimode Traction Control adds extra convenience by improving grip in low-traction conditions. The Ather 450X is priced from Rs 1.48 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru).
