BMW G 310 R New Shade

BMW Motorrad India has announced an extended warranty cover package for the BS6-compliant BMW G 310 R, G 310 GS, and the G 310 RR. While the reason behind this is not known, we suspect that this step could be taken to lure new buyers or to strengthen its after-sales reputation. Priced at Rs 6,000, the new extended warranty programme allows the customers to extend the warranty by an additional 5 years on top of the standard 3-year warranty. The 5-year extended warranty plan comes with unlimited kilometres of mileage, and owners can get reimbursements for defect-related repairs throughout the stipulated time frame under this plan. This extended warranty can be activated after the 3-year standard warranty expires, and cannot be availed of after 24 months or 2 years. Meanwhile, the standard warranty becomes active after the purchase date. Note that this extended warranty applies to existing customers who have bought the said models after October 2020 and does not include motorcycles owned by associated companies, motor traders, and garages.

BMW's Extended Warranty Plan: Terms and Conditions

In order to be eligible for the new extended warranty, BMW mandates that customers must keep their motorcycles in an appropriate condition and adhere to all the recommended maintenance, inspection, and service obligations. Having said that, customers must provide the invoice copy and digital certificate to avail of the services covered by the package. BMW adds that the reimbursement of claims (mechanical or electrical failures only) can be done only until the package expires. A BMW Motorrad dealer will not carry out any repairs prior to utilising the warranty package. To know more, visit www.bmw-motorrad.in.

BMW G 310 GS, G 310 R, G 310 RR: Highlights

Based on the 310cc platform, the BMW G 310 R, the G 310 RR, and the G 310 GS are products of a strategic alliance between BMW Motorrad and TVS. Under the alliance formed in 2013, the products are 100 per cent engineered by BMW, whereas TVS is responsible for delivering world-class quality while keeping the production cost less. The BMW-TVS motorcycles have a presence across 100+ markets, including the EU, USA, Latin America, India, Japan, and China. All three bikes share the same underpinnings, and therefore get the same 313cc, single-cylinder engine that cranks out 34bhp and 28Nm of peak torque.

BMW M 1000 R

In early October, BMW brought the M 1000 R motorcycle in India alongside its full-blown Competition variant. The price for the BMW M 1000 R is set at Rs 33 lakh, while the BMW M 1000 R Competition costs Rs 38 lakh. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom. The all-new BMW M 1000 R hypernaked bike is the highest-spec S 1000 R motorcycle that comes with 'M' grade features, engine parts, and components over the standard bike. The BMW M 1000 R Competition, on the other hand, is equipped with the M Competition package, including the Blackstorm metallic/M Motorsport colour scheme, rider footrest, carbon wheels, engine protector, the M pillion cover, etc.

The engine on offer is a 999cc, inline 4-cylinder, water-cooled unit that belts out 113Nm of peak torque at 11,000rpm and 209bhp at 14,500rpm, even making more power than the Ducati Streetfighter V4 S (205bhp). The M 1000 R boasts a top speed of 280km/h and a 0-100km/h timing of 3.2 seconds (claimed).

Feature-wise, the supersport M Roadster offers a multifunctional instrument cluster with a 6.5-inch TFT screen displaying a new rev counter, start-up animation with M logo, LED light units, adaptive turning light, heated grips, a rear USB charging socket, and electronic cruise control. At an additional cost, you will get the M GPS datalogger, M GPS laptrigger, as well as a lightweight M battery.
