BMW India Posts Best-ever Year-to-date Sales in 2023; Sells 9,580 Cars, 6,778 Motorcycles

BMW Group India has achieved its best-ever year-to-date sales growth in 2023. The company's success is backed by remarkable performance across its three brands: BMW, Mini, and BMW Motorrad India. The company attained spectacular sales success in the first three quarters of the year, with total deliveries of 9,580 cars throughout the country, representing a 10% year-over-year gain over the same period in the last year. Out of all these total cars, BMW supplied 8,998 vehicles, while Mini delivered 582 units in India, showing an increase of 10% year-over-year for both manufacturers. BMW Motorrad, the corporation's motorcycle brand, delivered 6,778 bikes in the country between January and September 2023, which is an uptick of 26%. BMW and Mini Sales: Key Highlights 

In the first three quarters of the year, sales of the luxury automaker's electrified vehicles increased fivefold, with the BMW iX being the brand's best-selling electric vehicle in India. In addition, the automaker achieved an important milestone by supplying more than 1,000 EVs in the country. Following the popularity of the BMW Luxury Class, year-on-year sales of the BMW 7 Series, the i7, the X7, and the XM soared by 102% from January to September. While the BMW 7 Series dominated the ultra-luxury segment, demand for the BMW X7 nearly doubled, indicating its increasing appeal among elite Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) buyers. In addition, BMW Sports Activity Vehicles (SAV) accounted for more than half of YTD sales volumes, according to the automaker. 

The Countryman led the growth for Mini in India, making up 63% of the overall sales. In contrast, the Cooper 3 Door and the Mini Electric accounted for 17% of sales.

BMW Motorrad India Sales: Major Takeaways

In comparison to the first three quarters of 2022, when the bikemaker sold 5,379 units in India, the brand experienced an impressive YoY gain with 6,778 units sold in the country from January to September in 2023. BMW bikes, including the G 310 R, the G 310 GS, and the G 310 RR, contributed to the phenomenal sales surge in the first nine months of this year, with a total share of 88%. Furthermore, the sales of completely imported large-capacity bikes, especially the GS series, increased by 36%. In India, the company sold more than 10,000 GS motorcycles.
