One of the key attractions at Hero MotoCorp’s EICMA display was a scrambler-inspired, rebadged version of the Mavrick 440. The bike retains the trusted 440cc platform but adds notable updates that give it a distinctive character. For now, Hero has not confirmed the Hunk 440 SX’s launch, but if it does arrive in India, the bike will enter the crowded 400-450cc segment, and take on rivals such as the Royal Enfield Guerilla 450 and Triumph Scrambler 400X. Alongside the Hunk 440 SX, Hero unveiled the Xpulse 210 Dakar Edition, highlighting its aggressive expansion into high-displacement, lifestyle-oriented motorcycles worldwide. Here’s a closer look at what the new Hunk 440 SX brings to the table.
The Hunk 440 SX comes with an array of updates that set it apart from its roadster counterpart. These include gaitered telescopic front forks (replacing the USD forks seen on the export-spec Hunk 440), a long-travel suspension, and a large engine bash plate. The wheel configuration is also different, with an 18-inch front and 17-inch rear fitted with dual-purpose knobby tyres.

Cosmetically, the bike stands out with a high-mounted twin-outlet exhaust, braced handlebars with knuckle guards, split seats, and a minimalist tail section, all of which reinforce its scrambler character and all-terrain capability.
The Hunk 440 SX is powered by the familiar 440cc, air- and oil-cooled, single-cylinder, long-stroke engine. While official output figures are yet to be confirmed, it produces 27bhp and 36Nm, paired with a six-speed gearbox. The bike comes equipped with a ride-by-wire throttle, switchable ABS, and traction control, and a digital TFT instrument cluster (with smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation).
Although Hero has kept details under wraps, speculation points to an India launch under the name Hero Mavrick 440 Scrambler or Hero Scrambler 440, leveraging the proven Mavrick 440 platform.
