KTM has announced a global recall for several motorcycles in its 390 line due to a possible engine stall issue linked to the new 399 cc single-cylinder platform. The recall covers the 2024–2026 KTM 390 Duke and the 2025–2026 390 Enduro R, 390 SMC R, 390 Adventure R and 390 Adventure X sold in international markets. KTM says internal tests showed the engine could stall at low rpm or while slowing down, which may cause a loss of drive in city traffic or slow off-road sections. This can also lead to a tip-over during tight turns or U-turns. The recall is a preventive step to reduce low-speed issues. KTM adds that units sold in India are not part of this recall, even though production for global markets happens in the country. The company states that the update is meant to help riders manage low-speed use in daily and off-road conditions.

The recall applies to motorcycles using the 399 cc engine platform from the 2024–2026 model years. Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401, built in India for export and using the same engine, are also included. The brand reports that the issue is tied to the ECU software and not to hardware. Older 373 cc 390 models are not part of this recall because the issue affects only the newer engine platform

The fix is a software update for the engine control unit. The new ECU map aims to lower the chances of stalling and improve low-rpm control. No hardware parts need replacement. The update will be done at no cost at authorised KTM and Husqvarna workshops.

KTM will contact owners in global markets. Riders can also check recall status through service channels or dealers. The ECU update will be completed at approved centres, and KTM advises customers to book a slot.
KTM and Bajaj state that the recall covers only selected export VIN ranges and does not include units sold in India. Overseas riders are urged to complete the update for the latest software, while Indian owners remain outside this recall.
