Made-in-India Ola 4680 Cells to Make S1 Pro+ & Roadster X+ Cheaper; Launch in September

Ola Electric announced significant price cuts for the S1 Pro+ and Roadster X+ at its recently held 'Sankalp' event in Tamil Nadu. This move comes as a result of integrating its new and in-house developed 'Bharat 4680' battery cells. The S1 Pro+ now starts at Rs 1.69 lakh, which is a significant reduction from Rs 1.99 lakh. Meanwhile, the Roadster X+ is priced at Rs 1.89 lakh, down from Rs 2.24 lakh. Both models are also eligible for an additional Rs 10,000 discount until August 17. All prices are ex-showroom. Ola claims the Bharat 4680 cell (46mm in diameter and 80mm in height) has a higher energy density, which translates to a longer range and better performance for the vehicle. Its larger size reduces the number of cells needed per pack, streamlining production and cutting costs. The design also enhances heat management, improving both safety and efficiency.

Ola S1 Pro+, Roadster X+: Mechanical Specs

The new Ola S1 Pro+ with a 5.2kWh battery continues to have a range of 320 kilometres on a single charge. It retains the same performance, powered by a 13 kW motor that delivers 58Nm of torque and a faster 0-40km/h acceleration of 2.1 seconds.

The Ola Roadster X+ also retains its powertrain and battery specifications. The 9.1kWh battery capacity enables an IDC-claimed range of 501 kilometres. The motorcycle continues to be driven by an 11 kW electric motor that produces 58Nm of torque. The top speed stands at 125km/h, while the 0-40km/h sprint time is 2.7 seconds.

Other Highlights

Ola Electric launched the S1 Pro Sport at a starting price of Rs 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The scooter is the first in India to come with an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). It also offers the segment-best certified range of 320 kilometres.

The new scooter has a sporty design with an ergonomic front seat and aerodynamic body. Its specially tuned suspension provides sharper handling. The scooter gets a premium look from carbon-fibre details, precision mirrors, and a redesigned grab handle. The addition of an ADAS camera brings intelligent safety features.
