Matter Aera Electric Pre-Bookings to Begin on May 17 in India

Matter's first electric-geared motorcycle in the India portfolio, the Aera, is all set to go on sale. The Gujarat-based EV start-up has announced the start of pre-bookings for the Aera electric bike. The pre-bookings for the electric vehicle will start from May 17 across 25 cities and districts that include Hyderabad, Vishakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Krishna, Bengaluru, Mysore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Mumbai, Navi-Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Pune, Nagpur, Nasik, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Vadodara, Jaipur, Indore, Delhi-NCR, Patna, Lucknow, Kanpur, Guwahati, Kamrup, Kolkata, Bhubaneshwar, and Kordha. The motorbike will be available in 4 variants -  the Aera 5000, the Aera 5000+, the Aera 4000, and the Aera 6000+, the first two of which have already been launched in the country. Customers who wish to buy the Aera can do so on Matter's official website or through its partners such as Flipkart and OTO.

The Matter Aera 5000 carries a pre-registration price tag of Rs 1.44 lakh, whereas the Aera 5000+ is priced at Rs 1.54 lakh. Prices are ex-showroom, India. The Aera is the first-ever electric motorcycle in India that comes mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. It is equipped with an IP67-rated 5kWh battery pack and a 10kW electric motor that is rated at 13bhp and 520Nm. The battery can be charged in a claimed time of 5 hours using a standard charger and in 2 hours with a fast charger. The electric bike can sprint from a standstill to 60km/h in under 6 seconds and returns a claimed range of 125 kilometre on a full charge.

Matter Aera 5000 Range: Design

The Aera boasts a sharp muscular design, reminiscent of a regular ICE-powered street bike. Its design elements include a muscular fuel tank with shrouds, a belly pan, a projector headlamp with LEDs, LED indicators, a split-seat setup, higher clip-on handlebars, and a split grab rail for the pillion passenger.

Matter Aera 5000 Range: Features

On the feature front, the motorbike comes with a 7.0-inch LCD with a capacitive touchscreen, which offers information such as riding modes, navigation, and media controls. The 7.0-inch unit runs Android software and comes with 4G connectivity.

In terms of safety, the electric bike is equipped with remote lock/unlock, geofencing, live position tracking, vehicle health monitoring, and front and rear ABS. Other notable features include a proximity-based key fob, park assist, OTA updates, progressive blinkers, welcome lights, and Bluetooth connectivity. But, the features vary depending on the variant.
