Okinawa Scooters launched in India

Indian electric scooter manufacturer Okinawa Scooters has just launched its first fully electric scooter in India - the Ride - priced at Rs 43,703 ex-showroom Delhi.

It looks like more and more start-ups are taking an interest in electric mobility solutions in India. Even though Mahindra and Hero Electric have been in the game of electric mobility for a while now, we now have a pretty decent range of products to choose from.

Just today, Indian electric scooter manufacturer Okinawa Scooters launched their very first product in the market and its called the Ridge. The Ridge is a fully electric, zero emission, zero noise, scooter, which the company hopes will offer affordable electric mobility solutions to Indians.

Established in 2015, Okinawa Autotech launched Okinawa Scooters with the sole purpose of manufacturing high-speed electric two-wheelers/scooters for the Indian market, and its mission is to alter the belief that electric vehicles can’t match the power, speed and efficiency of traditional petrol vehicles.

The Ridge is its first product in India and it’s a zero emission electric scooter that can clock speeds of up to 55 km/h and has a range of around 90kms. This means that on a full charge most commuters can easily cover their average daily riding distance. Okinawa has also announced that they will launch more products down the line, which will be able to have a total range of 200kms.

The scooter uses an 800W battery that can be fully charged in about 6 to 8 hours, and there is also a fast mode charging option that will charge the battery in around 2 hours.

The Ridge electric scooter is also fitted with features such as anti-theft alarm, speedometer, Central locking smart controller (with EABS) as well as an Eco and power mode of operations.

The Ridge also looks quite nice thanks to its modern and sharp design, and it is also available in different colours and also has optional customizations. It also gets alloy wheels, tubeless tyres and telescopic suspension, and its also got a loading capacity of 150 kg and under-the-seat storage.
