Triumph Daytona 660

Triumph's middleweight supersport, the Daytona 660, is set to be launched on August 29 in India, and it will take on the likes of the Kawasaki Ninja 650 and the upcoming Honda CBR650R. Unveiled globally in January 2024, the Triumph Daytona 660 is a fully-faired bike based on the Trident 660 platform. Despite having the same 660cc inline-three engine as the Trident 660, the Daytona 660 delivers more power and torque – 94bhp at 11,250rpm and 69Nm at 8,250rpm versus the Trident 660's 80bhp at 10,250rpm and 64Nm at 6,250rpm. According to Triumph, over 80 per cent of its 69Nm of peak torque is available from just 3,125rpm, returning responsive sporty and fully usable performance. By the way, the redline is 12,650rpm.

Typical for a supersport, the Triumph Daytona 660 features a fully faired design, twin LED headlamps, a split seat setup (larger than a conventional supersport), and an upswept tail section. The bike seems to have a relaxed riding position that combines sportiness with comfort.

Triumph Daytona 660: Chassis, Suspension, Brakes

The main frame is a tubular steel perimeter unit, suspended by a 41mm SFF-BP upside-down front fork and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock, both supplied by Showa. The braking setup comprises twin 310mm front discs and a 220mm rear disc. The discs come fitted on 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Power 6 tyres, whereas the Trident 660 gets less sporty Michelin Road 5 rubber units. The Daytona 660 tips the scales at 201kg, which is 12kg more than the Trident 660.

Triumph Daytona 660: Electronic Aids

These are not the only differences. Seat height too has increased by 5mm to 810mm, while there are three ride modes on offer with the Daytona 660 – Rain, Road, and Sport. Other electronic aids include dual-channel ABS, traction control, a bi-directional quick-shifter, and a slip-and-assist clutch. A TFT/LCD with Bluetooth connectivity and all-LED illumination are also part of the mix.
