Kawasaki Ninja 650 Highlights
The Ninja 650 is a middle-weight offering in the Ninja lineup from Kawasaki that sits above the Ninja 400 and below the Ninja 1000. The Ninja 650 is, essentially, the fully-faired version of the Z650. On the design front, the bike is unmistakably a Ninja, replete with twin headlamps at the front, a sporty front cowl and a muscular fuel tank with Kawasaki branding.
For 2020, Kawasaki has made some cosmetic changes to the Ninja 650 while keeping the core styling cues intact. Here’s an overview of the 2020 Ninja 650.
As for the aesthetic changes, the Ninja 650 now gets a reworked front fairing, which is a tad bit sharper than before. As per Kawasaki, the Ninja 650 also gets a redesigned windscreen that sits flush with the front cowl and gives the bike a sportier stance. Dimension-wise, the bike is 2,155mm in length, 740mm in width and 1,145mm in overall height. Ground clearance is 130mm, and the kerb weight is 196kg. The fuel tank has a capacity of 15-litres.
Engine & Transmission
The Kawasaki Ninja 650 comes powered with a 649cc twin-cylinder liquid-cooled motor that puts out 66.4bhp and 64Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. With the update, Kawasaki has updated this engine to meet the BS-VI emission standards. Expect the Kawasaki Ninja 650 mileage to be somewhere between the 20-25km/l mark.
The Ninja 650 is built around a trellis, high tensile steel frame. The bike rides on beefy 41mm telescopic forks suspension at the front and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. The 17-inch wheels are shod with a 120/70ZR17M/C (58W) tyre at the front and a 160/60ZR17M/C (69W) tyre at the back. The stopping power comes from dual 300mm discs at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear.
The Kawasaki Ninja 650 new model now comes with a fully-digital 4.3-inch TFT display, replacing the semi-digital instrument cluster from its previous iteration. The new digital instrument cluster also features Bluetooth connectivity, letting the rider connect his/her smartphone for enhanced riding experience. Safety features include ABS as a standard addition. Both the headlamp and taillamp feature LEDs.
