Triumph has confirmed that in the mid-September this year, they will attempt their long awaited land speed record attempt at the Bonneville Salt Flats in America. Following a successful practice session in which a top speed of 441.2 km/h was achieved at the Bonneville Slat Flats.

Triumph has confirmed that in the mid-September this year, they will attempt their long awaited land speed record attempt at the Bonneville Salt Flats in America.
Following a successful practice session in which a top speed of 441.2 km/h was achieved at the Bonneville Slat Flats, Triumph has confirmed they will attempt to set a new outright motorcycle land world speed record in mid-September this year, weather permitting.
By clocking 441.2 km/h during practice, they have already made it the world fastest Triumph ever. Isle of Man TT star, Guy Martin will attempt to set the record on the Triumph Infor Rocket Streamliner to try and beat 606.4km/h (current record) on an 11-mile long course on the salt flats.
The track had a good surface during practice was wasn’t yet fully capable of supporting a top-sped run at the time. After consulting with Mike Cook, the FIM Course manager, the team zeroed in on middle of September to be the perfect time weather condition and surface wise for the attempt.
Triumph held their practice session at the salt flats on August 9, where they set the top speed of 441.2 km/h. also during the test, Triumph claims they achieved every target and objective they had set for themselves and the rider, Guy Martin, was able to master the controls of the 1,000bhp streamliner Triumph Infor Rocket very quickly.
Crew Chief and designer of the streamliner, Matt Markstaller commented: “We achieved a great deal during our test week at Bonneville and feel we are in a great position to move ahead with our record attempt. Guy settled into the streamliner very quickly and impressed us with the speed in which he mastered both the motorcycle and riding on the salt.
“While conditions were some of the best I have seen over the last few years, we feel there is still some room for improvement. When chasing a record such as this on two wheels the conditions have to be the very best they can be, to give us the greatest chance of achieving the speeds we require to set a new record. We feel that waiting a few further weeks will provide us with even better conditions and put us in the ideal position to make our record attempt.”
