Triumph Thruxton 400 Spied Testing

The upcoming Triumph Thruxton 400 has been spotted testing once again, hinting at its imminent arrival in India. The recently spied test mule, clad in a black paint scheme, was sighted near Bajaj’s Chakan plant, where the brand’s 400cc models are built. Expected to debut in the second half of 2025, this modern cafe racer will join Triumph’s 400cc lineup, positioned between the Speed 400 (Rs 2.40 lakh) and Scrambler 400X (Rs 2.65 lakh) in Triumph’s lineup. Both mentioned prices are ex-showroom figures. The latest spy images reveal key design elements, including a signature front fairing with an integrated windscreen, low-set clip-on handlebars, and a floating tail section, embodying its retro-inspired styling. Mechanically, the Thruxton 400 is likely to feature USD front forks, a rear monoshock, and disc brakes with dual-channel ABS.

In terms of design, the Thruxton 400 embraces a vintage cafe racer look, featuring a streamlined front fairing that integrates an apron as well as a windscreen. Though not entirely visible in recent spy shots, the bike is expected to house a round headlamp within the fairing.

The overall styling bears a strong resemblance to the Speed 400, showcasing a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, ribbed single-piece seat, unswept exhaust, a floating tail section, and compact grab rail. Staying true to its cafe racer DNA, it sports low-set clip-on handlebars and slightly rear-set footpegs, reinforcing an aggressive, sporty riding posture inspired by classic 1960s motorcycles influenced by fighter jet aesthetics.

Triumph Thruxton 400: Engine and Hardware

Built on the same platform as Triumph’s 400cc lineup, which includes the Speed T4, Speed 400, and Scrambler 400X, the upcoming Thruxton 400 is expected to feature a 399cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. This powertrain, co-developed with Bajaj, delivers 39.5bhp of maximum power and 37.5Nm of peak torque. Paired with a six-speed gearbox, the engine ensures a balance of performance and efficiency.

Spy images have revealed that the motorcycle will feature upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock, the latter likely offering preload adjustability. Braking hardware is expected to include disc brakes measuring approximately 300mm/320mm at the front and 230mm at the rear, paired with dual-channel ABS. The international prototype was spotted with 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli Rosso tyres, though the Indian version may come with locally sourced MRF or Apollo tyres.

Triumph Thruxton 400: Features

In terms of features, the Triumph model is expected to get the same instrument cluster as the Speed 400 and a semi-digital instrument cluster with an analogue speedometer. The LCD console shows the odometer, tachometer, trip meters, and fuel levels.
