The TVS RTR 180 gets some sporty treatment and racy decals.

In the past few months, TVS has been quite aggressive in launching new products in the market. Last year in December, it was the TVS Apache RR 310, followed by the arrival of TVS NTorq 125 scooter early in 2018. And then more recently the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V also went on sale. The good thing is, TVS’s focus isn’t only on new products. The company is also revamping the existing range simultaneously. Earlier this year, TVS launched the Race Edition of the TVS Apache RTR 200 4v, then came a similarly sporty version of the old RTR 160, and now the firm has launched the RTR 180 Race Edition.

The RTR 180 Race Edition is priced at ₹83,233 (ex-showroom Delhi) and is available only in Pearl White colour with racy red graphics. Powering the motorcycle is the same 177.4cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine that churns out 16.3bhp and 15.5Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a five-speed gearbox.

Apart from a new colour option, there aren’t any additional bells and whistles here. The motorcycle gets a digital dashboard with a blue backlit display, which includes a 0 – 60 km/h speed recorder, lap timer and a service indicator.

Although the Apache RTR 180 is still a potent motorcycle, the new RTR 160 4v is nearly as powerful, packs latest equipment and looks more modern. Plus, it’s slightly more affordable as well. However, there’s still a good chunk of buyers who swear by the adage, ‘no replacement for displacement, and for them the RTR 180 will, of course, make more sense.
