TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Race Edition 2.0 Launched

TVS updates the Apache RTR 200 4V with slipper clutch and updated styling.

While the title of the story sounds like the launch of a new sporty version of the Apache RTR 200 4V, the fact ios slightly different. What has actually happened is that TVS has updated the entire model range for the RTR 200 4V by fitting it with a slipper clutch, new body graphics and visor. The price to pay for this update is around a mere Rs. 2,000. Needless to say, this is a welcome initiative in keeping with the theme of the Apache’s sporty nature.

For those who may like to know, a slipper clutch allows for quicker gear shifts with a reduction in clutch force required. This allows for quicker upshifts and downshifts to give it faster lap times and in-gear acceleration. In the 200 4V’s case, the TVS claims clutch force reduction of 22 per cent. The anti-reverse torque slipper clutch system fitted here also reduces wheel hopping while cornering to improve stability.

Mechanically the motorcycle remains the same with its 197.75cc, single cylinder, air-cooled engine available with a carburettor or fuel injection. The carburettor version develops 20.2bhp @ 8,500rpm, and the fuel-injected version produces 20.7bhp @ 8,500 rpm. Torque output remains the same for both versions at 18.1Nm @ 7,000rpm.
