Yamaha R15: Engine Specs, Hardware and Features

Produced at Yamaha's Surajpur plant in UP, over 90% of the R15 units produced have been sold within the country. Since its debut, the bike has featured key innovations like a liquid-cooled engine, DiASil Cylinder, and a Deltabox frame. The R15 has been updated four times, with the 2011 V2.0 version introducing an aluminium swingarm. In 2018, the V3 upgrade brought a 155cc VVA engine and a slipper clutch. The most recent V4 model added traction control and a quick shifter in 2021, further improving its performance and rider engagement.

The Yamaha R15 is priced from Rs 1.84 lakh for the base version, reaching up to Rs 2.11 lakh for the premium R15 M Carbon Fibre variant. Both prices are ex-showroom. The model is propelled by a 155cc single-cylinder SOHC engine with a four-valve setup, generating 18.14bhp of maximum power and 14.2Nm of peak torque. It is paired with a six-speed transmission and comes with a slipper and assist clutch as standard. Additional features include a linked monocross rear suspension, traction control, and inverted front forks.
