Hyundai Motor India has officially revealed the dimensions and other specs of the Verna in India. The new Verna will go on sale in our market on March 21, with deliveries reportedly beginning in mid-April. According to Hyundai, the upcoming Sedan will lead the segment in luxury and comfort. It will have a few amenities, including a phone holder for the front passenger, a multipurpose console, and a cooled glove box. While pricier models will feature leatherette interiors, the new Verna will have a dual-tone beige and black interior theme. There will be no diesel engine option available for the new Verna. It will get two petrol engine choices. The lower-spec versions will have a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated engine, while the higher-spec models will have the new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, offering 158bhp. Both engines will come standard with a six-speed manual transmission. Moreover, they will have CVT and DCT as options.
Coming to the dimensions, the 2023 Verna will be 1475mm in height, 1765mm in width, and 4535mm in length. Moreover, with a 2670mm wheelbase, the new-generation sedan will have the largest wheelbase in its category. The wheelbase of the new Verna will thus be a full 70mm longer than that of the current model. According to the carmaker, the increased width of 36mm and longer wheelbase will improve the overall interior space. The company has also revealed that the boot capacity of the 2023 Verna will be 528 litres, which is the highest in the sector and also 50 litres more than the current version.
Sharing his views on the announcement, Mr. Tarun Garg, Chief Operating Officer, of Hyundai Motor India Ltd., said, “The all-new Hyundai Verna has been conceptualized to induce smart and spacious mobility. We have developed this new sedan to redefine customer expectations by elevating the quotient of luxury and space for an unparalleled in-cabin experience.''
He further said, With its premium and up-market interiors, advanced technologies, and futuristic design, the all-new Hyundai Verna will enthrall our customers and drive a higher affinity towards the sedan segment.”
As reported earlier, the Hyundai Verna will adopt a Sensuous Sportiness design language. The new Verna's styling will be influenced by - the Hyundai Tucson and the Hyundai i20. It will feature a sunroof, a double-layer headlight similar to the Hyundai Grandeur, a split LED headlamp system, and a grille with a parametric jewel pattern.
In its Chennai plant, Hyundai India has reportedly started mass producing the new Verna for the Indian and international markets. As mentioned, deliveries are anticipated to start by the middle of April. In India, the Verna will compete with vehicles like the recently refreshed Honda City, the Volkswagen Virtus, the Skoda Slavia, and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. Price-wise, the upcoming Verna is anticipated to command a slightly higher price than the current Verna, which costs between Rs 9.64 lakh and Rs 15.72 lakh (ex-showroom).
