2023 MG Hector Facelift

The 2023 MG Hector facelift has been unveiled ahead of its official launch at the 2023 Auto Expo to be held this month. The updated Hector receives several significant interior enhancements to make sure that it keeps up with the growing competition in the segment. The car now has a larger, more intimidating grille up front, which, from some angles, resembles more expensive Lexus models. The overall profile is relatively unchanged, although there are some noticeable aesthetic modifications. It now gets new LED components inside the taillights at the back, and the rear bumper has been improved to give it a more refreshed appearance. On January 11, 2023, MG will reveal the pricing for the Hector and the Hector Plus facelifts at the biennial auto show. But before we get there, let's take a closer look at everything the 2023 Hector facelift has to offer.

In terms of the exterior, the Hector's front fascia gets a new addition in the form of a redesigned diamond pattern grille, which is much larger than the previous iteration. The lower bumper is also new and incorporates a new ADAS sensor module. The LED headlamps and DRLs, on the other hand, have not been altered. MG has installed new connected blade LED taillamps at the rear, which seem pretty classy. The rear end, additionally, includes Hector lettering, a new chrome detail, and a redesigned lower bumper, similar to that of the Gloster. Every other body panel, however, remains unchanged, including the 18-inch alloy wheels.

Under the hood, there are no alterations. The upcoming MG Hector will continue to be offered with either a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine or a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine. The Hector's diesel engine generates 167bhp of maximum power and 350Nm of peak torque. The petrol engine produces 141bhp and 250Nm of peak torque. The car will still be available with both manual and automatic powertrain options.

Interestingly, the manufacturer has updated every surface and component of the car's cabin. As a result, the dashboard now features a 14-inch portrait infotainment display as its centrepiece. Thanks to a faster processor and 4GB of RAM, the system is fairly responsive. Several elements, such as the sunroof, which can be opened to any degree between 10 and 100, and upgraded 8-colour ambient lighting are controlled via the display, like before. A new gear selector and additional buttons have been added to the central console, which has also undergone modification. Additionally, there is now a brand-new 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster.

A significant improvement in terms of features is the Level 2 Autonomous ADAS, which includes what MG refers to as TJA (Traffic Jam Assist). The TJA, which is essentially a hybrid of adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist, allows the driver to take their hands off the wheel and their feet off the pedals as the car follows the vehicle in front of them in stop-and-go traffic. The instrument display, which has numerous additional customisable modes, can be used to access the MG Pilot ADAS display. The SUV also gets an intelligent turn indicator, which turns on the turn signals automatically when the steering wheel is turned. Among other features, it gets a powered tailgate, a 360-degree camera, multi-language voice navigation, 75+ connected car features, and more.
