Mercedes-Benz has taken the wraps off the 2027 GLE, and this update brings meaningful changes across the board. The SUV now looks sharper, packs better tech inside, and moves towards electrification with updated hybrid systems. What stands out is that Mercedes hasn’t gone overboard with changes but has refined the GLE in areas that matter for daily driving and performance. The update covers the standard SUV, AMG models, and even the Coupe version. The model will go on sale globally soon, and for India, the launch is expected sometime in early 2027.
The design changes are clean but noticeable. Up front, the GLE now gets new LED headlight signatures along with a revised grille. The bumpers have been reshaped to improve airflow, which also helps with efficiency.

Around the back, the taillights now feature updated graphics, giving the SUV a fresher look on the road. Mercedes-Benz is also offering new alloy wheels ranging from 19 to 21 inches, along with new paint finishes.

The cabin of the GLE 53 AMG Hybrid feels focused on performance. It gets the MBUX Superscreen with three 12.3-inch displays under one glass panel. You also get an AMG steering wheel with a flat-bottom design and drive mode controls. Nappa leather sports seats with contrast stitching come as standard, along with red seatbelts and AMG-specific trim. The infotainment system also shows performance data like G-force and torque split.

The GLE 450 comes with a 3.0-litre inline-six petrol engine putting out 375bhp and 500Nm, paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system that adds smoother response. The GLE 300d diesel delivers 266bhp and 550Nm, while the GLE 450d steps it up with 362bhp and 750Nm from its six-cylinder setup. There is also the GLE 400e plug-in hybrid, which balances performance and efficiency with 375bhp and 650Nm.

If you want more performance, the GLE 53 AMG Hybrid brings a more aggressive setup. It gets the Panamericana grille with vertical slats, larger air intakes, and wider wheel arches. The stance looks wider, and the quad-exhaust at the rear, along with the diffuser, adds to its sporty character.

It is powered by a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six engine paired with an electric motor. Together, this setup produces 536bhp and 750Nm. The electric motor is integrated into the nine-speed automatic gearbox, which helps deliver power instantly. It also comes with all-wheel drive and adaptive air suspension to handle the added performance.

The GLE Coupe continues with its sloping roofline, and it now gets the same updates as the SUV. The rear looks more tapered and gets an integrated spoiler lip. The AMG Line package comes as standard, so you get sportier bumpers and side skirts right from the base version.

The GLE Coupe shares the same wide MBUX Superscreen setup and runs the latest MB.OS system with an AI assistant. The dashboard now gets updated air vents and new trim options like wood finishes. It comes with the AMG Line interior as standard, so you get a leather dashboard and sports seats. Other highlights include 64-colour ambient lighting and a 15-speaker Burmester sound system with 710W output.

The Coupe carries over the same engines as the SUV. The GLE 450 petrol makes 375bhp and 500Nm, while the GLE 450d diesel produces 362bhp and 750Nm. It also has a slightly firmer suspension setup compared to the SUV, which gives it a more focused driving feel. The plug-in hybrid versions now support faster DC charging as well.
Mercedes-Benz will produce the 2027 GLE range at its North American facility. The rollout will happen in phases across global markets. After that, the SUV and Coupe will likely make their way to India in early 2027.
