As mentioned above, the upcoming SUV could mostly be based on the same platform as the Jeep Compass and could be offered with similar drivetrain options. Although much details haven't been revealed, the SUV could sport a different fascia but very much resembling of a 'Jeep'. The styling lines and proportions could be reworked upon to do justice to its SUV classification. The interiors are expected to be based largely on the updated 2021 Jeep Compass along with the feature list.

In the past few years, we have observed a trend in the Indian market where manufacturers offer a 7-seater model that is ideally based on the 5-seater model. In essence, the Tata Safari based on Harrier and the MG Hector Plus that is based on the Hector. Hyundai is also joining the bandwagon with the it's upcoming Alcazar that is based on the Creta. Similarly, Jeep could also be eyeing on the same market share and probably launch the 7-seater Compass in India. That said, the new SUV could be dubbed something else but the Commander as the copyrights to the name could still be with Mahindra Group in the Indian market.

While we’ve mentioned a few 7-seater SUVs in the article above, the longer Jeep Compass based 7-seater SUV could essentially be a rival to the Volkswagen Tiguan All Space in the Indian market. Adding to the possible rivalry, the Skoda Kodiaq that is soon expected to be launched in India with a petrol engine could be a competitor to the 7-Seater Jeep Compass.
