Audi will launch the performance-focused SQ8 in India on March 17, 2026. As a mid-range variant in the Q8 lineup, the SUV will slot below the top-spec RS Q8 while offering a substantial upgrade over the standard model. It will be powered by the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine as its range-topping sibling, the RS Q8, albeit in a lower state of tune. In the SQ8, the motor produces 500bhp/770Nm, while in the RS Q8 it is tuned more aggressively to deliver 631bhp/850Nm. The engine comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, and power is sent to all four wheels. The SQ8 has a 0 to 100km/h acceleration time of 4.1 seconds, and an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h.

As the performance-focused iteration of the Q8, the SQ8 flaunts a sportier design, with elements such as a new single-frame grille with a detailed insert pattern and a silver surround, an aggressive front bumper with larger air intakes, 21-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, S badging on the front fender, and darker trim accents. It also has a continuous LED light bar spanning the tailgate.
While Audi has yet to disclose the interior specifications of the India-bound SQ8, the global-spec model’s cabin looks recognisable. Prominent details include leather-Alcantara upholstery, stainless steel pedals, seats, and steering adorned with S badging, and aluminium inlays.

The car also comes equipped with multi-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, twin-screen MMI setup, and a 12.3-inch digital driver display, power seats with heating, ventilation, and massage functions, a head-up display, and Bang & Olufsen audio.
The Audi SQ8 will bridge the gap between the standard Q8, priced starting at Rs 1.13 crore, and the top-spec RS Q8, which asks for Rs 2.34 crore. By offering the same engine as the RS, albeit in a lower state of tune, the SQ8 will provide a sweet spot for customers looking for V8 power and 'S' styling at a significant price advantage over the top-tier RS model.
