Auto Expo 2023: At the 16th iteration of the Auto Expo, Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer – BYD Build Your Dreams – debuted the brand-new Seal electric sedan for the first time in India. After the BYD Atto 3 and the BYD e6, the BYD Seal is the third model in the brand's line-up in India. According to reports, the company will launch the model in the second quarter of 2023, and deliveries will start in October. The new BYD Seal electric sedan draws design cues from the Ocean X concept car, which made its appearance in 2021. The car sports split headlights, a boomerang-shaped LED daytime running light, and an all-glass roof (DRLs). It gets diamond-cut alloy wheels, flush door handles, and a full-width LED light bar running across the width at the rear.

The sporty four-door car has a sleek design and a drag coefficient of 0.219 Cd and is based on the brand's EV platform (e-Platform 3.0) – the first 8-in-1 high-efficiency electric powertrain is part of the e-platform 3.0. The Cell to Body (CTB) technology, which enables the battery to be integrated into the body, has been used for the first time in the BYD Seal. It is 4,800mm in length, 1,875mm in width, and 1,460mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,920mm.

The BYD Seal is internationally available with both a 61.4kWh unit, with a claimed range of 550 kilometres, and an 82.5kWh pack, with a claimed range of 700 kilometres. The larger battery pack has a 150kWh charging capacity, while the smaller one has a 110kWh charging capacity. It can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.8 seconds.

The BYD Seal's interior layout and design is inspired by the ‘ocean’ theme. The Seal's air vents have a light blue accent and a wave-like design. The steering wheel features a flat bottom and three spokes. The primary screen is a 15.6-inch display, which flips between landscape and portrait settings, like that of the Atto 3. The standard version of the car, which is available worldwide, gets ten speakers. The most expensive variants, however, get 12 Dynaudio speakers. The less expensive Seal also lacks a 220 V outlet, ambient lighting, and heated and ventilated front seats.
