BYD Seal EV Deliveries Begin, 200 Units Delivered in a Single Day

The BYD Seal is underpinned by the same e-platform 3.0 as the Atto 3 and the Dolphin, and gets two different battery options with up to 650km range.

BYD India has started deliveries of the all-electric Seal sedan in India and, at a mega-delivery event held on May 26, it delivered 200 units of the Seal in the country covering multiple cities, including Delhi–NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kochi. The bookings for the electric sedan began in late February, and ever since then, the Seal has bagged more than 1,000 orders in India. Launched on March 5, the Seal is the most expensive EV from BYD to go on sale at a price bracket of Rs 41 lakh–Rs 53 lakh. It is the third product in BYD India's lineup after the e6 MPV (Rs 29.15 lakh) and the Atto 3 SUV (Rs 33.99 lakh). All prices are ex-showroom, India.

BYD Seal: Platform, Powertrain

The BYD Seal is underpinned by the same e-platform 3.0 as the Atto 3 and the Dolphin; however, it uses an 800V electrical architecture. The batteries, offered in two sizes, use BYD's patented blade technology. The smaller 61.44kWh battery pack comes mated to a 201bhp rear-axle-mounted electric motor. This battery has a claimed range of 510km. 

On the other hand, the larger 82.56kWh battery pack has a claimed range of 650km in the variants equipped with a rear-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor (308bhp). Meanwhile, the 523bhp producing dual-motor and all-wheel-drive variants with the same 82.56kWh battery offer a claimed range of 580km range. 

BYD Seal: Features

In terms of features, the BYD Seal offers a 15.6-inch rotatable touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster for the driver. There is also a heads-up display, drive selector and 8-way electronically adjustable driver’s seat, as well as automatic climate control and two wireless charging pads. 

When it comes to the safety of the occupants, the EV has that covered as well with 9 airbags, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS tech, among other features.

BYD Seal EV: Variants, Colour Options

The BYD Seal built for India is available in three variants – Dynamic, Premium, and Performance, while the exterior colour choices are Arctic Blue, Atlantis Grey, Aurora White, and Cosmos Black.
