Citroen India now offers a CNG retrofitment alternative for the C3 hatch, available through authorised dealers nationwide. Priced about Rs 93,000 above the standard model, this dual-fuel system is designed to integrate effortlessly with the existing petrol setup, allowing seamless switching between petrol and CNG. The current ex-showroom price of the model ranges between Rs 6.23 lakh and Rs 10.27 lakh. Compatible with the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, it provides an efficient mileage of up to 28.1km/kg, making it an economical choice for regular use.
Sharing his thoughts on the update, Kumar Priyesh, Business Head & Director - Automotive Brands, Stellantis India, said: 'We are pleased to introduce the CNG retrofitment option for the Citroen C3, reinforcing our commitment to provide accessible, economical, and eco-conscious mobility solutions. This initiative will enable our customers to experience Citroen comfort and design while benefiting from the cost-efficiency and environmental advantages of CNG. As CNG infrastructure rapidly expands across India – with more than 7,400 stations expected nationwide by FY2025 – Citroen India is proud to offer solutions aligned with the country's evolving fuel ecosystem and environmental goals.'
The newly launched CNG kit is aimed at customers seeking lower operating costs. As mentioned, this dual-fuel setup is claimed to return an efficiency of up to 28.1km/kg of CNG, bringing down per-km fuel expenses to around Rs 2.66. Drivers can effortlessly switch between petrol and CNG, ensuring uninterrupted usage and improved versatility for long-distance travel.

Tailored specifically for the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated (NA) petrol trims – Live, Feel, Feel(O), and Shine – the CNG kit is engineered to integrate without modifying the vehicle’s standard architecture. The refuelling nozzle has been conveniently placed within the existing fuel filler compartment, streamlining the process at gas stations.
Importantly, the conversion retains the hatchback’s usable boot space and maintains accessibility to the spare wheel, preserving the car’s practicality.
To account for the extra load from the CNG equipment, the French carmaker has added a bespoke suspension tuning package. This includes a stabiliser bar, upgraded rear dampers, and reinforced springs, to ensure the ride comfort remains consistent with the petrol-only version.
The CNG kit is sold exclusively through Citroen’s authorised dealership network and includes a 3-year or 1 lakh km warranty, covering all associated components. Each installation undergoes stringent quality protocols, such as pressure calibration, leak detection, and cylinder strength checks, to comply with safety regulations and emissions standards.
