Datsun redi-GO AMT bookings open

You can now book the redi-GO AMT at a minimum booking amount of Rs. 10,000. Deliveries to commence on 23^rd January.

Datsun is all set to add another variant to their redi-GO line-up. The company already has five variants of the redi-GO on sale in India, including 799cc and 1.0-litre options. However, unlike its sibling, the Renault Kwid, the redi-GO wasn’t offered with an AMT options as yet. The Japanese car maker will launch the redi-GO 1.0-litre with the AMT option in the next few days. Bookings for the redi-GO AMT have commenced at a minimum booking amount of Rs 10,000, and deliveries are expected to begin on 23^rd January.

The redi-GO AMT shares its engine with the Renault Kwid AMT. The 1.0-litre petrol motor pumps out 68 horses and 91Nm. This engine comes mated to a 5-speed AMT. While the Kwid gets a rotary knob on the centre console for shifting gears, it remains to be seen what approach Datsun takes for the redi-GO. Moreover, unlike its rivals Tata Nano and Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, the Kwid also doesn’t come with a sequential shift.

In terms of design and interior, expect the redi-GO AMT to be identical to the standard model except, of course, AMT badges in a few places. The redi-GO AMT is likely to demand about Rs. 30,000 more than the standard model, taking it in the Rs. 3.9 – 4.1 lakh (ex-showroom) price range.
