Fiat Urban Cross bookings open

Fiat has started accepting bookings for the Urban Cross crossover hatchback which is expected to be launched soon.

Fiat dealerships have now commenced booking for the Fiat Urban Cross prior to the new crossover’s launch. Interested customers can pre-book the car now for a booking amount of Rs. 21,000/-.

With the underpinnings from the Punto Evo, Fiat had revealed an all new crossover at the Auto Expo earlier this year, which they called the Urban Cross. Under the bonnet, it has been reported that Fiat will offer the 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged T-Jet petrol engine found in the Punto Evo Abarth that develops 138hp and 210Nm of torque. However, the 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder Multijet diesel engine found in the standard Punto Evo. The diesel engine churns out 90hp and 209Nm of torque which is likely to be the volume seller variant for Fiat. Both engines will be available mated to 5-speed manual gearbox with power being sent to the front wheels.

The Urban Cross has a striking resemblance to the Punto Evo, however, it looks like a more steroid injecting cousin with well chiseled jaw line in terms of exterior styling. The front and rear bumpers are much beefier and sportier and the front grille has chrome inlays with a chrome border lining as well. The head lamps and tail lamps also have a new LED design inside while the assembly and shape is identical to the standard Punto Evo.

The interior is also styled similarly to the Punto, but the Urban Cross gets gets a dual one dash and leather upholstery in the cabin. The Urban Cross gets a three spoke steering with silver inlays, and aluminium pedals, and also a touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth, Aux and navigation. Airbags and ABS (anti-lock brakes) are also expected to he offered as standard fitment from Fiat with the Urban Cross.

To keep the new crossover competitive in the market, Fiat will need to price the Urban Cross under the 9-lakh mark. Fiat is expected to launch the car sometime towards the end of September, with deliveries starting from the festive season.
