Ford launches the EcoSport at Rs. 5.59 lakhs

Ford has finally launched the much-anticipated EcoSport in India. Everybody in the media fraternity was worried about the price that Ford would demand for this product and might we say, they have blasted all notions of over pricing.

The price for the Ford EcoSport starts at Rs 5.59 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base Ambiente petrol variant and Ford says that deliveries commence today.

The EcoSport as we told earlier will be available in the 1.5-litre petrol and diesel and also the 1.0-litre EcoBoost powertrain. Ford is offering the EcoSport in 4 trims – Ambiente, Trend, Titanium and Optional. The EcoSport with the EcoBoost engine will be made available only on the top-end Titanium trim.

Ford has managed to pack in a lot in the base variant- Ambiente. It gets tilt and telescopic steering, a multi-function display, music player with Aux-in and Bluetooth, electric wing mirrors to name a few.

Features like ABS, steering mounted controls and driver-seat height adjust make its way into the variant above the Ambiente – the Trend.

The top-end Titanium trim gets leather-wrapped steering wheel, climate control, a cooled glovebox, roof rails, dual airbags, front fog lamps, a reverse parking sensor. In addition to this, Ford offers an option pack for the Titanium trim, which is packed in with cool stuff like push-button start, leather seats, keyless entry, and side and curtain airbags.

Ford has given the consumers a choice to opt for the EcoSport with an automatic gearbox as well, but that only comes with the normal 1.5 petrol.

Ford has not left a stone unturned to make the EcoSport what it is. It has taken them a year and half to launch the car in India and they have certainly arrived and how. The pricing of the EcoSport is a threat not only to SUV’s like the Renault Duster but also to hatchbacks and sedans that find themselves in the same price quadrant.

Trend: Rs 6.49 lakh
