Prices of the Ford Endeavour rise by up to Rs 2.85 lakh

Prior to the festive season and the launch of the new Toyota Fortuner, Ford had heavily slashed the prices of it's flagship SUV - Endeavour. Now, the American car maker has silently raised the prices in India by up to Rs 2.85 lakh. The base Trend variant of the Endeavour with the 2.2-litre powerplant and an automatic transmission continues to carry a sticker price of Rs 23.78 lakh. The price of the 2.2-litre manual transmission 4x4 Endeavour has gone up by Rs 2.85 lakh for the Trend variant.

The 4x2 Titanium AT is now priced at Rs 27.93 lakh with a hike of Rs 43,000. The Trend variant, which is also available with a 3.2-litre 4x4 AT option now demands Rs 1.75 lakh more than before and is priced at Rs 27.68 lakh. And finally, the fully-loaded 3.2-litre 4x4 Titanium AT now costs Rs 30.89 lakh. Interestingly, this hike brings the price of the Endeavour to more or less at what it was launched.

Ford launched the new Endeavour in the Indian market in January last year. The SUV was introduced in two variants, Trend and Titanium, both of which are available with 2.2-litre and 3.2-litre engine options. The 2.2-litre engine with the 4x2 option is on sale in the Trend as well as Titanium trims, while only the Trend variant comes with a 4x4 MT option. The larger 3.2-litre mill is only on sale with the 4x4 AT combination in both its variants.

Prior to the launch of the new Toyota Fortuner, the Endeavour was consistently ranking higher in the sales charts. While the Fortuner has registered sales of 1924 and 1780 units in November and December 2016 respectively, the Endeavour has only managed 562 and 912 units. That being said, Toyota’s figures could also be a result of the initial hype surrounding its launch. Moreover, despite the hike in prices, the Endeavour is still more affordable than its rival in discussion.
