Last month, Hyundai India gave out the design sketches of its up-coming SUV, Alcazar, and last week a production model was teased in a promotional video hinting at the proportions of the seven-seater SUV. However, the wraps will be taken off the SUV tomorrow (i.e April 6, 2021) and we shall also find out more about the engine options, feature list and possibly the price. For now, following is what to expect from the Hyundai Alcazar seven-seater SUV.

Price

Let’s begin from the heart of the matter. The Hyunda Alcazar will largely be based on the Creta and in turn, it will be positioned higher in the Korean manufacturer’s portfolio. That said, the expected price range is between Rs 12-19.5 lakh ex-showroom. The Alcazar could undercut its key rivals - Tata Safari and MG Hector Plus. Tata Safari is priced between Rs 14.69 lakh and highest Adventure Persona variant retails for Rs 25.25 lakh ex-showroom. The MG Hector Plus is positioned between Rs 13.34 lakh up to Rs 19.43 lakh ex-showroom.

Drivetrain

The Alcazar could debut with both petrol and diesel engines - with the convenience of an automatic. It has been rumoured that the Alcazar diesel could be offered with a larger 2.0-litre diesel engine than serves duty in the BS6 Hyundai Tucson. While the petrol engines could be shared from the Hyundai Creta. Most Likely the Hyundai Creta’s 1.5-litre NA and 1.4-litre turbo petrol could be carried forward into the Alcazar. With the choice of an optional automatic transmission as well.

Comfort creatures such as ventilated seats, flat-bottom steering wheel and paddle shifters could be available with the Hyundai Alcazar.
