Hyundai’s best-selling mid-size SUV, the Creta, has gone electric and is now available starting at Rs 17.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It competes with the Mahindra BE 6, one of the most advanced options in India’s electric vehicle market, which starts at Rs 18.90 lakh (ex-showroom). So, can the new Creta Electric surpass the Mahindra BE 6 on paper? Let’s find out in this detailed comparison.

Mahindra BE 6

Hyundai Creta Electric vs Mahindra BE 6: Powertrain

The Creta EV offers two battery options: a 42kWh version with a range of 390 kilometres and a 51.4kWh version providing 473 kilometres of range. The smaller battery produces 133bhp, while the larger one delivers 169bhp. In contrast, the Mahindra BE 6 offers two significantly larger battery packs: a 59kWh and a 79kWh. The smaller battery mated to a single motor generates 227bhp, whereas the larger battery produces 282bhp while maintaining the same 380Nm of torque. The BE 6’s top variant has a notable range of 682 kilometres (MIDC P1+P2). While the Creta EV is front-wheel drive (FWD), the BE 6 is rear-wheel drive (RWD).

When you compare the two, the Mahindra BE 6 stands out not only for its larger battery options but also for a more powerful rear-mounted electric motor. If we look at the smaller battery packs, the BE 6’s 59kWh option provides a substantial 94.6bhp and 180Nm more than the Creta’s 42kWh motor. The gap widens even further with the larger 79kWh battery pack of the BE 6, which offers 113bhp and 180Nm more than the motor in the Creta’s 51.4kWh variant. So, in terms of power and range, the Mahindra BE 6 certainly takes the lead.
