Hyundai Exter EX, S, SX, SX (O) and SX (O) Connect Variants Explained

The Exter, the most economical SUV offered by Hyundai Motor India, is now available for an introductory price of Rs 6 lakh for the base variant and goes all the way up to Rs 10 lakh for the top-spec SX (O) variant. Both prices are ex-showroom. Here's a look at the Exter's variant-wise features.

The Exter, the most economical SUV offered by Hyundai Motor India, is now available for an introductory price of Rs 6 lakh for the base variant and goes all the way up to Rs 10 lakh for the top-of-the-line SX (O) variant. Both prices are ex-showroom. The car comes in five trim levels, includes a single engine that can run on gasoline or CNG, and has both manual and automatic transmission options. According to the trim, engine, and gearbox configurations, the company has so far disclosed the costs of 11 variants. Apart from that, bookings for the Exter SUV have already begun at the company's official website or through authorised dealerships in India for a nominal amount of Rs 11,000.

In terms of mechanical components, the SUV offers three different engine choices. A 1.2-litre Kappa petrol, 4-cylinder normally aspirated (NA) engine can generate 82bhp at 6,000rpm and 113.8Nm of torque at 4,000rpm, whilst a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol, bi-fuel with a CNG option, can generate 68bhp of maximum power and 95.2Nm of torque at its peak. The CNG version's transmission will be a manual gearbox, while the petrol engine's transmission will be either an AMT automated gearbox or a five-speed manual gearbox. The Exter SUV offers 19.4km/l for the manual variant and 19.2km/l for the automatic variant, according to ARAI certification. The SUV has a fuel economy of 27.1km/kg with a factory-installed CNG engine. Let's now take a look at the Exter's variant-wise prices and features.

Hyundai Exter EX: Rs 6 Lakh (Ex-Showroom)

A 1.2-litre engine and manual transmission are standard on the Hyundai Exter EX model. The Hyundai Exter EX has the features listed below:

The carmaker offers two different 1.2-litre petrol MT/AMT and 1.2-litre CNG MT engine options for the Exter SX. The SX model adds the following features in addition to the S:

Hyundai Exter SX (O): Rs 8.64 lakh - Rs 9.32 lakh (Ex-Showroom)

A 1.2-litre gasoline engine, along with a manual and AMT gearbox, power the Exter SX (O). Along with SX, the SX (O) receives the following features:

- Automatic headlamps

- Keyless go

- Cooled glove box

- Footwell lighting

- Smart key for keyless entry

- Leather-wrapped gear lever

Hyundai Exter SX (O) Connect: Rs 9.32 lakh - Rs 10.00 lakh (Ex-Showroom)

An AMT and manual gearbox are available for the 1.2-litre petrol engine that powers the Hyundai Exter SX (O) Connect. The SX (O) Connect comes equipped with the features listed below in addition to SX:

Hyundai Exter: Design and Market Rivals

Hyundai Exter

The Exter SUV, which is built on the same chassis as the Grand i10 Nios, has a distinctive design. The SUV's frontal appearance is made up of an H-shaped LED daytime running light, projector headlights, and a black mesh radiator grille. The SUV has alloy wheels with a diamond-cut pattern and black side cladding. On the other hand, the back end is defined by the integrated roof spoiler, a shark-fin antenna, a rear wiper, H-shaped LED taillamps, and a tailboard with a slanted rear glass. With a 2,450mm wheelbase, the Exter SUV is the longest in its class. With a height of 1,631mm, it is also the highest model in its segment. These will guarantee that there is additional head and legroom for the passengers. 

Along with the Tata Punch, the Exter's competitors in the micro-SUV market will be the Maruti Suzuki Ignis, the Nissan Magnite, the Renault Kiger, the Citroen C3, and the Maruti Suzuki Fronx.
