Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV is arguably one of the most-awaited electric cars in India and it is the company’s first BEV to be introduced on Hyundai Motor Group’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP).
Hyundai Motor India has opened bookings for the Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV for Rs 1 lakh in India. As per the company, the Ioniq 5 EV will come with a claimed range of 631 km per charge.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 has been developed on E-GMP which allows the company to maximise interior space. The car also features eco-friendly materials across various touchpoints. Coupling the strong performance capability of this BEV with an ultra-fast charging capability of 10 % - 80 % in just 18 minutes (using a 350kw DC charger) and innovative solutions such as Vehicle-to-Load (V2L): Inside and Outside, as well as Hyundai SmartSense (Level 2 ADAS), Hyundai Ioniq 5 is geared up to redefine electric mobility lifestyle like never before.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 boasts a unique exterior design that is characterised by clean and sharp lines, featuring contours that give this BEV a definite SUV silhouette. The face of the car is defined by the distinctive Parametric Pixel LED Headlamps which reflects the unique pixel signature, a design inspiration for this BEV. The clamshell hood features a smooth and seamless design and the car also features an Active air flap (AAF) that improves aerodynamics when closed and cools vehicle parts when open.
On the sides, the Ioniq 5 is defined by Z-shaped side character lines and the biggest draw is the 20-inch parametric pixel design alloy wheels which are also claimed to aid the aerodynamic efficiency of the car. It is from here that you can also see the flush door handles that automatically pop out when the driver is in close proximity.
At the back, the parametric pixel design is further carried through with the parametric pixel LED tail lamps. The Rear spoiler with LED high-mount stop lamp (HMSL) adds a sporty touch.
On the inside, the Ioniq 5 gets Dark pebble gray interiors and sports eco-processed leather seat upholstery. There is use of soft-touch materials on the dashboard and the door and it carries the pixel design on the armrest, seat upholstery, and steering wheel.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 features a 12.3-inch touchscreen Infotainment and comes with a Bose sound system with eight speakers that can also play six kinds of ambient sounds of nature. Next to it is the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster showing all the necessary information to the driver.
The car has an impressive wheelbase of 3000mm which allows it to have huge cabin space carved out for the passengers. The combination of a flat floor and the slim cockpit design, sliding centre console and sliding glove box give it a futuristic appeal.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 comes with a 72.6 kWh battery and gets a permanent magnet synchronous motor that has a power output of 217 PS and makes 350 Nm of torque. It can be charged from 10%-80% in just 18 minutes through a 350 kW DC fast charger, however, there are barely a handful of such chargers across the country.
Interestingly, the Ioniq 5 also comes with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology through which the car can supply up to 3.6 kW of power output. The V2L port is located under the second-row seats. Another V2L port is located at the charging port on the vehicle's exterior. Using a converter, customers can power electric equipment like a laptop, phones, and other devices.
Additionally, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 also comes with over 60 connected car features with three years of free Bluelink subscription which includes services like remote door lock/unlock, live location, and SOS services. On the safety front, it comes with six airbags, disc brakes on all wheels, and level 2 ADAS features consisting of assists like Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, and Smart Cruise Control.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is offered in 3 exterior colour options: Gravity gold matte, Optic white, and Midnight black pearl.
