At the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon, Hyundai unveiled an exciting electric concept car, the Ioniq 5 N, which features N Performance components to increase its already impressive level of performance. This unique concept car, the NPX1, is the first electric N car to have upgrades that were previously only available on N-badged petrol vehicles.

The Hyundai NPX1, an electric N-car concept, is a departure from previous designs. These supplementary accessories will be available for the Ioniq 5 later in 2024, according to Hyundai's ambitious plans. The concept car on display at the Tokyo Auto Salon has a full body package, which includes a carbon front splitter, a larger diffuser, beefier side skirts, and a conspicuous rear wing. A blend of metal and carbon is carefully sculpted into the wheels to maximise weight reduction.

Hyundai NPX1: Design

The NPX1 underwent a remarkable transformation, now sporting a sleek matte black exterior with dark cyan accents. A redesigned front bumper with fewer vent holes and a concealed mesh grille is the result of this makeover. But the striking feature is the massive front splitter that juts out vertically, blending in with the front wheel wells like a piece of Optimus Prime's leg that was painstakingly resprayed in matte black.

As it drops even lower, the NPX1 keeps its aggressive stance with a reworked side skirt sandwiched between a set of updated alloy wheels made of lightweight hybrid carbon with smaller spokes.

The biggest change happens at the back, where a new bumper and a huge four-section splitter take centre stage. The NPX1 no longer carries its diminutive back wing, instead, it boasts a massive sword-like extension that is ten metres in length. All of these new NPX1 components are made from top-tier materials.

Hyundai has assured admirers that the NPX1 has sports bucket seats and an extravagant amount of Alcantara fabric, however, the South Korean automaker has not released photographs of the interior of the concept.

Hyundai NPX1: Mechanical Upgrades

The NPX1 concept automobile is mechanically vastly improved over the Ioniq 5 N, in addition to looking much better. To round off the external upgrades, the car gets some mechanical tweaks like lowering springs for the suspension and better brake pads.

Hyundai intends to provide interested consumers with N Performance parts for the Ioniq 5 N as part of its ongoing effort to create such accessories for all of its N cars.
