Hyundai launched the redesigned i20 in India last year. However, sales for the hatchback saw a marginal increase, despite the revamp. The South Korean carmaker is currently rearranging the i20 variant lineup to tackle this. According to industry reports, the brand intends to release a new mid-variant to draw customers. Hyundai will likely roll out the new model, called Sportz (O), and will position it in between the Asta and Sportz trims. Besides, several new features might be added by the manufacturer to the Sportz (O) model. These include a driver-side door pad's cushioned armrest, wireless charging, and an electric sunroof.

Furthermore, the upcoming model ought to retain all of the other Sportz variant's features, such as the rear parking camera, a height-adjustable driver seat, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, cooled glovebox, cruise control, LED tail lamps, automatic climate control, and rear defogger. Mechanically, it is quite probable that the Hyundai i20 Sportz (O) variant will be available with both manual and automatic transmissions with the current 1.2-litre petrol mill.

2023 Hyundai i20: Interior and Safety Feature Set

The interior has been done in shades of grey and black. Not much has changed aside from this. The USB Type-C fast charging ports are the only feature addition. The 2023 iteration of the i20 retains its seven-speaker Bose audio system, wireless phone charging, digital driver's display, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, electric sunroof, and air purifier. Regarding the safety tech, the hatchback comes equipped with 26 safety features as standard, including six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), HAC, VSM, ABS, and EBD. In addition, OTA updates, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and Hyundai's BlueLink connectivity are accessible.

2023 Hyundai i20: Engine and Transmission

The 1-litre turbo-petrol engine for the i20 is no longer offered. The updated hatchback is now propelled by a 1.2-litre, 82-bhp, 115Nm petrol engine. There are two gearbox choices: a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic. The 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine has been earmarked by Hyundai for the i20 N-Line. For the upcoming Sportz (O) version, manual and CVT transmission options are anticipated.
