Hyundai has launched the refreshed Tucson in India. The updated version features sharper design, revamped interiors, and a set of BS6-compliant petrol and diesel powertrains.

After showcasing the Tucson facelift at the Auto Expo 2020 in February, Hyundai has now put the refreshed version of its mid-size premium SUV on sale in the country. Priced between Rs 22.30 lakh and Rs 27.03 lakh (both ex-showroom), the new Tucson is available in five variants. Updates on the new model include new styling, a completely revamped interior, and a set of BS6 petrol and diesel powertrains.

Outside, the changes are subtle, with the facelift featuring a sleeker look than before. The front end gets a flatter cascading grille, while the headlamps are sleeker now and come with full LED lights. In profile, the new Tucson is identical to the old model, but it now gets new alloy wheels to distinguish it from the now-defunct BS4 version. At the back, it gets a redesigned tailgate and slightly tweaked LED taillamps.

Inside, the changes are more prominent, as the Tucson now features an updated cabin with more premium materials and a refreshed layout. There’s a new 8.0-inch floating touchscreen for infotainment, while the new model also introduces Hyundai’s Blue Link connected car technology in the SUV. Android Auto, Apple Car Play, 360-degree cameras, wireless phone charging, leather upholstery, and a panoramic sunroof are some of the other highlights of the new Tucson.

Engine options on the updated Tucson include 2.0-litre petrol and diesel BS6-compliant engines. The petrol unit develops 150bhp of max power and 192Nm of torque, and it comes mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox. The diesel mill is rated at 182bhp and produces 400Nm of torque. It’s paired to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. All variants are front-wheel drive; however, all-wheel drive is optional on the top-of-the-line diesel variant.

The Hyundai Tucson primarily competes with the Jeep Compass in India.

Here are the variant-wise prices (ex-showroom) of the new Tucson:

Petrol

GL (O) – Rs 22.30 lakh

GLS – Rs 23.52 lakh

Diesel

GL (O) – Rs 24.35 lakh

GLS – Rs 25.56 lakh

GLS 4WD – Rs 27.03 lakh
