Jeep India ventures into pre-owned vehicles

Car manufacturers are increasingly getting into the certified pre-owned vehicle space. Amongst the mass market carmakers, Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra, Toyota and Volkswagen already have presence in the space. In fact, even Mercedes-Benz started its pre-owned car program in 2010. Jeep India has now entered the certified used car business with its SELECTEDforYOU initiative. The American marquee had started a pilot project in select cities like Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai last year. Now, the company has officially launched the enterprise at 42 of their outlets across the country. Jeep India aims to expand to 65 dealerships by August 2020. Jeep India has also launched an official website for its certified car division.
Commenting on the launch of SELECTEDforYOU Dr. Partha Datta – President and Managing Director, FCA India said, “The Jeep Compass enjoys exceptional residual value in the Indian automobile market, and that is a great opportunity for our customers. SELECTEDforYOU, being cultivated as a shop-in-shop business model, assures trust, confidence and peace of mind for customers. A certified pre-owned Jeep Compass under SELECTEDforYOU, promises high quality, certified standards and will be as reliable as our straight from the factory model. We are entering the pre-owned vehicle business also because are gearing up to launch all-new Jeep models in India and Jeep customers will have the opportunity to upgrade.”
At these pre-owned outlets, customers can trade-in their vehicles of any brand, for either a new Jeep Compass or a certified pre-owned one. Jeep claims that all used vehicles sold through this channel will go through a 125-point inspection. The company promises a thorough verification of past ownership, service history and an exhaustive road test, before it is put on sale on the SELECTEDforYOU portal. All Jeep Compass’ sold through this channel will be offered with a 3 year / 60,000km warranty – whichever comes first. Jeep India will also top it up with 24x7 Roadside Assistance.
As far as new models are concerned, Jeep is expected to bring in the Renegade to India in the near future. The recently unveiled Compass face-lift will surely make its way to India as well.
