The Kia Sonet facelift has been sighted multiple times, and it is expected to launch next year, after making its global debut in the Indian market. The compact SUV was introduced in 2020, and despite getting some minor updates, it hasn't yet undergone a significant overhaul. In early August, the test mule of the Sonet facelift was spotted testing in Hyderabad. The previous set of spy images showed the new Kia grille, LED headlights with revamped contours, a revised front bumper, and even a new alloy wheel design, while the rear end flaunted L-shaped LED taillights bearing a resemblance to the Seltos facelift. Back then, the spy shots did not show us the interior of the Sonet facelift, but it was expected that the car would have a large touchscreen infotainment system on a single-piece dashboard, along with new upholstery, and a fully digital instrument console. And now, all of these and more have been revealed in fresh spy shots of the facelift, which has been spied on once again ahead of its launch in the country.
Kia Sonet Facelift: Interior Details
According to the latest spy images, the Sonet facelift retained the same dashboard layout as the current version, with a floating infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. However, the test mule bore a new climate control unit and a fully digital instrument cluster, along with dual-tone upholstery in black and beige, built-in sun blinds for the second row, a 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel, an electric sunroof, etc.
On offer will also be a front armrest with storage, a new setup for AC controls, a rear armrest with cupholders, ventillated front seats, a Bose sound system, cruise control, and a wireless phone charger. In terms of safety, expect the Kia Sonet facelift to come with 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera, ABS with EBD, parking sensors, ESC, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and partial automation to assist the driver in certain situations like acceleration and steering.
Kia Sonet Facelift: Powertrain
Under the hood, the Sonet facelift is likely to continue with the same powertrain options. Currently, 3 different engine options are available with the existing Sonet: a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre diesel, and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, while 4 different transmission options are offered – a manual transmission, a dual-clutch transmission, a clutchless manual, and an AMT.
Kia Sonet Facelift: Price, Competitors
The compact SUV has been Kia's bestseller in India for the first half of 2023. About 8,251 units of the Kia Sonet were sold in May 2023. The Sonet facelift is likely to make its market entry in India by early next year. With a range of improvements made to both the exterior and interior, it may be priced more than the current version, which is available at prices ranging from Rs 7.79 lakh to Rs 14.89 lakh. Prices are ex-showroom.
Upon launch, the new Sonet will continue to rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, the Mahindra XUV300, the Tata Nexon, the Hyundai Venue, and more.
