Kia will foray into India’s growing mass-market EV segment with the Syros EV. Spy images of the electric SUV have been surfacing online for quite some time now, giving a glimpse of its design and features. Although Kia hasn’t officially announced a launch date, the Syros EV is expected to hit showrooms by mid-2026. The model will have the same core design as its petrol-powered version, albeit with a few EV-specific changes. It will compete directly with popular compact electric SUVs such as the Tata Nexon EV, Punch EV, and the MG Windsor EV. Here’s what you can expect from the upcoming Kia electric SUV.

The Kia Syros EV is expected to retain the overall silhouette of its ICE-powered counterpart, as seen in multiple spy shots. However, the electric version will feature a few EV-specific design changes, including a closed-off grille and aerodynamic wheels, and a charging port positioned on the front fender.

Other possible elements are port-mounted indicators showing charging progress, active air vents for battery cooling, and prominent EV badging.
The Syros EV will likely carry over the majority of the interior design from its ICE-based sibling while adding a few key updates, such as refreshed upholstery, updated instrument cluster graphics, and software. In terms of features, the EV will maintain the same list, featuring a dual-camera dashcam, dual-screen infotainment setup, ventilated seats, an 8-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, and a panoramic sunroof.
The Syros EV is expected to be built on Kia’s K1 platform, also underpinned by models like the Hyundai Casper, Inster, and Exter.
There will likely be two battery options – 42kWh and 49kWh – capable of offering an estimated range of up to 355 kilometres. A larger 51.4kWh battery could also be available.

The upcoming Kia EV is anticipated to be priced between Rs 14 lakh and Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). With this price range, the Syros EV would become Kia’s most affordable electric car in India.
