A thickly camouflaged test mule of the Mahindra Thar three-door has been seen on the road, indicating that a significant facelift could be on the horizon. Having received only subtle changes since its launch in 2020, the SUV now appears poised for its most substantial update yet. While the spy shots primarily reveal the rear section, they hint at notable styling revisions – likely influenced by the Thar Roxx – alongside potential feature enhancements.

Notable cues from the test mule include redesigned, vertically aligned taillamps that closely resemble those on the Thar Roxx, complete with centrally mounted indicators. While the front remains under wraps, it is expected to receive a Roxx-style grille, along with circular LED headlamps bordered by C-shaped LED DRLs. The SUV also appears to ride on a new set of alloy wheels.
Interior updates may follow suit, with possible additions such as automatic climate control, a larger 10.25-inch infotainment screen, wireless charging, and a fully digital driver display. However, it is unclear whether higher-end features seen on the 5-door Roxx variant, like the panoramic sunroof or a 360-degree camera system, will be introduced on the facelifted three-door model.
As far as the powertrain is concerned, the 3-door Thar facelift is expected to carry over the same options as before. The current-gen 4x2 model is powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine, which delivers 117bhp of maximum power and 300Nm of peak torque. This variant is only available with a six-speed manual transmission.

Coming to the 4x4 version, it comes with two engine options: a 2.0-litre mStallion petrol mill (150bhp/320Nm) and a 2.2-litre diesel mill (130bhp/300Nm). In contrast to the 2WD models, the 4x4 variants are mated with both six-speed manual and automatic transmission options. The Thar 4x4 also features a manual-shift transfer case, with some variants offering a manual-locking differential.
