Mahindra will continue its tradition of unveiling new offerings on August 15, as part of its commitment to advancing India’s automotive future. While the official specifications and technical details remain under wraps, the company has teased a concept called Vision.T, which will be unveiled on Independence Day at an event in Mumbai. The concept could be a more refined version of the electric five-door Thar that debuted in 2023.
Mahindra hasn’t revealed any details about the Thar.e’s powertrain yet, but market rumours suggest it could feature a dual-motor setup with 4WD. It’s also expected to come with a larger battery for enhanced off-road capability.

While the teaser image shows a boxy silhouette that seems to look a lot like the original Thar.e, the Vision.T is likely to include a few updates to reflect its growth and maturity over the years. In its concept avatar, the electrified Thar gets a blocked-off rectangular grille with Thar.e emblazoned across, squarish LED headlights, and a 'Thar.e' badging on the left side of the grille. It also has flat sections highlighted with sleek horizontal lines at the front.
The Thar.e features increased ground clearance, heavy-duty skid plates, and all-terrain tyres. The aerodynamic upgrades also contribute to better range and efficiency.
Inside, the concept boasts a roomy cabin that offers plenty of space. It also features 75 custom sounds created by A.R. Rahman, adding a unique audio experience from door open to drive mode changes.

While these details highlight the Thar.e, we don’t yet know if the Vision.T will inherit them. More details on the concept are expected to be revealed closer to the debut.
The upcoming event is said to feature both petrol-powered and electric vehicles. Mahindra hasn’t shared anything about its innovations, but speculations are rife that the company will likely unveil a new modular platform that will underpin its upcoming cars in the future.
