The Maruti Suzuki Dzire has sold more than 30 lakh units since its launch in India in 2008. This milestone speaks volumes about the popularity of the compact sedan, which has undergone multiple generational updates over the years. The most recent fourth-generation model was launched in November 2024, and it became the first model from the brand to receive a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP. Maruti Suzuki also announced that the Dzire was India’s highest-selling car in calendar year 2025, with over 2.14 lakh units sold. In February 2026, the popular sedan sold 19,326 units, showing a YoY 31.52% growth from 14,694 units sold during the same month last year.
Commenting on the momentous occasion, Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, ‘I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude towards all 3 million Dzire customers on this incredible milestone. The fourth-generation Dzire has well and truly reignited the sedan segment with its refined and sophisticated appeal, ensuring it finds strong preference among young first-time buyers, this demographic in fact represents nearly 50% of customers. If you are looking to buy the Dzire in India, here’s a closer look at its key details.

The fourth-gen Dzire uses a new 1.2-litre Z Series petrol engine that produces a maximum power output of 80bhp and a peak torque of 112Nm and is mated to a five-speed manual or an AMT transmission. It also comes with a CNG powertrain on select variants, which produces 68bhp and 102Nm.

When it comes to the mileage, Dzire’s manual variant delivers 24.79km/l, while the automatic one offers 25.71km/l. Meanwhile, the CNG version gives a mileage of 33.73km/kg.
The compact sedan is available in four variants: LXi, VXi, ZXi, and ZXi+. It is offered in seven colour options: Splendid Silver, Bluish Black, Arctic White, Gallant Red, Nutmeg Brown, Magma Grey, and Alluring Blue.
The sedan no longer mirrors the Maruti Suzuki Swift at the front. It now features a large hexagonal grille and sharper, angular headlamps with horizontal DRLs. The fourth-generation model also gets redesigned alloy wheels, a shark-fin antenna, a more pronounced shoulder line, updated fog lamp housings, a boot-lid spoiler, and distinctive Y-shaped LED tail lamps linked by a prominent chrome strip.

Inside, the new-gen Dzire draws inspiration from the Swift, but maintains its uniqueness with a dual-tone black and beige theme, accentuated by faux wood inserts. Features-wise, the sedan comes equipped with a 9-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rear AC vents and Type-C charging ports, wireless phone charging, a 360-degree camera, and an electric sunroof. It has six airbags, three-point seatbelts for all passengers, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold Assist, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), reverse parking sensors, and ISOFIX child seat mounts for safety.
The price of the sedan in India starts at Rs 6.26 lakh and goes up to Rs 9.31 lakh (both, ex-showroom). At this price, the Dzire competes with other compact sedans like the Hyundai Aura, Honda Amaze, and Tata Tigor, all of which offer a similar balance of affordability, features, and efficiency. Buyers may also look for slightly larger and more premium alternatives like the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz at the upper end of the price spectrum.
