Maruti Suzuki is set to launch its first electric car, the e Vitara, in India on December 2, 2025. The SUV, which made its global debut last year, was among Maruti’s prominent displays at the Auto Expo 2025. In August, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the very first unit at the Hansalpur manufacturing facility in Gujarat. The e Vitara will underscore a major milestone in the nation’s 'Make in India' initiative. It will be shipped to over 100 countries, including key markets like Europe and Japan. Maruti Suzuki will offer the electric SUV with two battery options, promising a range of more than 500 kilometres.

Inspired by the eVX concept showcased at Auto Expo 2023, the e Vitara exudes a modern and stylish appeal. Its headlamps are sharp with Y-shaped DRLs, while a blacked-out bumper creates a commanding front, complemented by fog lamps and silver skid plates.

The side profile is accentuated by alloy wheels, body cladding, and rear door handles cleverly integrated into the C-pillar. At the rear, LED taillights, a shark fin antenna, and a roof-mounted spoiler complete the look.
The e Vitara has a dual-tone black and tan cabin, featuring an uncluttered, minimalist dashboard. It comes equipped with dual screens (one for infotainment and another for the digital driver display). Marking a first for Maruti Suzuki, the e Vitara features a two-spoke steering wheel. It comes loaded with premium amenities, such as a 10.1-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and wireless charging.
In terms of safety, the electric SUV packs an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, Level-2 ADAS, seven airbags, parking sensors front and rear, all-disc brakes, ABS with EBD, and electronic stability control.
The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is expected to offer two battery options: a 49kWh and a 61kWh, both built with BYD’s LFP ‘Blade’ cells. Each version is powered by a front-mounted electric motor producing a peak torque of 192.5Nm, with the 49kWh model delivering 143bhp and the 61kWh variant generating 173bhp.
