Maruti Suzuki Fronx Sales Cross 9,800 Units in May 2023

Maruti Suzuki launched the sub-4 metre compact SUV - the Fronx, in India at a starting price of Rs 7.47 lakh. In a short period, the SUV has managed to garner massive attention in the market as evidenced by its increasing sales number. According to industry reports, the carmaker sold 9,863 units of the SUV in May 2023. In April, it registered sales of 8,784 units. Overall, Maruti Suzuki sold 18,647 units of the Fronx in the last two months. In our market, the SUV is retailed via Nexa dealership. Alongside the Fronx, other vehicles sold through this channel include the Ignis, the Baleno, the Ciaz, the XL6, and the Grand Vitara. Before the market introduction of the Fronx SUV, it was predicted that it will be a major sales driver for the company, similar to the Baleno, and even could surpass it. However, it hasn't affected the sales of the hatchback so far. With dispatches of 18,733 units in May 2023, the Baleno maintained its position as the nation's best-selling car in India. Also, the hatchback's sales have increased 34.09% year-over-year in the past month. Coming to the newly launched Fronx, let's know more about this SUV.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx: Engine & Gearbox

The new model has two engine options: a 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine and a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine. The turbo-petrol engine produces 99bhp of maximum power at 5,500rpm and 147.6Nm of peak torque between 2,000 and 4,500rpm. Contrarily, the 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol unit delivers a maximum torque of 113Nm at 4,400rpm and 89bhp at 6,000rpm.

Speaking of the transmission, the 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine has a choice of a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox, while the 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine has both a 5-speed MT and a 5-speed AMT as gearbox choices. 

Maruti Suzuki Fronx: Variants & Safety Features

Sigma, Delta, Delta+, Zeta, and Alpha are the five variants of the new Maruti Suzuki Fronx. In terms of safety features, the brand-new SUV offers six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP with Hill Hold Assist & Rollover Mitigation, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, three-point ELR seatbelts, and more.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx: Price and Market Competitors

The new SUV's price in our market begins at Rs 7.47 lakh and goes up to Rs 13.14 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom. It competes in our market against models like the Tata Punch, the Renault Kiger, the Nissan Magnite, and the Citroen C3.
