The Mercedes-Maybach GLS Celebration Edition has been launched in India, featuring an array of luxury upgrades. Priced at Rs 4.10 crore (ex-showroom), the model distinguishes itself with individual reclining seats (rear), bespoke leather finishes, foldable work tables, and a refrigerated console with Maybach champagne glasses.
Both entertainment and convenience are taken care of by the MBUX rear tablet and a 29-speaker Burmester 3D audio system. Mechanically, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS Celebration Edition houses the same 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine that delivers 549bhp and 770Nm, and is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. This setup enables the luxury SUV to sprint from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.9 seconds, while the top speed stands at 250km/h.
Key exterior design details include the Maybach signature dual-tone scheme, 23-inch forged Maybach wheels featuring a ceramically polished finish, and integrated wheel bolt covers. The SUV also has a chrome-finished vertical grille.
The automaker has confirmed that the Mercedes-Maybach GLS will now be produced locally, making India the first market outside the US to assemble the flagship luxury SUV. With this move, the price of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS in India has been reduced by up to Rs 40 lakh, now costing Rs 2.75 crore compared to the earlier imported model’s price of Rs 3.17 crore.
Mercedes-Benz has also launched the EQS Celebration Edition in India, with prices ranging between Rs 1.34 crore and Rs 1.48 crore (both, ex-showroom).
The EQS Celebration Edition highlights the success of the standard model, which, the brand claims, remains the highest selling luxury BEV in India. Like the GLS Celebration, it also comes with a few notable additions.
