Approximately 2,400 units of the Mitsubishi Cedia have been recalled for replacement of faulty front passenger airbag inflator

Mitsubishi India has recalled approximately 2,400 units of the Cedia mid-size sedan sold earlier in India. The recall effects all models produced between 2006 and 2008. The reason for the recall is a faulty airbag inflator for the passenger side airbag which in the event of an accident could deploy incorrectly causing metal shrapnel to shoot out at occupants when the airbag is deployed. This recall is ofcourse part of the massive global recall in relation to car airbags manufactured by Japanese firm, Takata Corporation.

Owners of the Mitsubishi Cedia can reach out to any authorized Mitsubishi dealership across the country to check if their car is affected by the recall. Mitsubishi dealerships will replace the faulty passenger side airbags free of charge to customers. The recall for the Cedia has come into effect as of January 25, 2016 in a phased manner.

The Mitsubishi Cedia is no longer in production in India and the only vehicle that the Japanese car maker sells in India at the moment is the Pajero Sport SUV which retails between Rs. 25.35 lakh to Rs. 26.34 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.
