Maruti Suzuki will launch its all-new Swift this month in India, which will form the basis of the fourth-generation Dzire sedan. A day after Maruti Suzuki teased the former, the engine and mileage details of the Swift have surfaced online through a leaked brochure. According to that, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Swift will get a new Z Series 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, rather than a K Series 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol unit found in the outgoing model. Compared to the K Series engine (89bhp/113Nm), the Z Series engine will churn out 80bhp at 5,700rpm and 112Nm of peak torque. Moreover, the CNG-powered model is on the cards for a later date. However, it remains to be seen which transmission options the hatchback will offer.

The leaked brochure further tells us that the new Maruti Suzuki Swift will be more fuel-efficient than the previous version. Going by that, the hatchback will yield a claimed mileage of 25.72km/l, although it is yet to be known if this is for the manual or the automatic version.

New Maruti Suzuki Swift: Features

Features-wise, the new Maruti Suzuki Swift is confirmed to offer a larger 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, connected car tech, an Arkamys sound system, rear AC vents, a wireless charger, and A & C-type USB ports. The updated safety kit will include six airbags as standard as well as LED fog lamps. Other than these, we expect the hatchback to pack in an anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic stability control (ESP), and 3-point seatbelts for the rear occupants. While the model at Tokyo Motor Show 2023 had ADAS features and rear disc brakes, it is unlikely that the India-spec Swift will get the same.

According to a teaser photo released yesterday, the fourth-generation Maruti Suzuki Swift will have an evolutionary design. It will feature sharper LED headlamps, a redesigned grille, a revised bumper, and a red exterior colour. However, it will retain the same silhouette as the existing model.

New Maruti Suzuki Swift: Price, Rivals

The launch will likely take place on May 9, but bookings for the new Swift are underway. Interested buyers can make reservations for the same at Rs 11,000. Price-wise, we expect the new Swift to range between Rs 6.5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon its arrival in the Indian market, the 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift will rival the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios (Rs 5.92 lakh to Rs 8.23 lakh) and the Tata Punch (Rs 6.13 lakh to Rs 9.60 lakh).
