The Renault Duster is finally making a comeback in India on 26 January 2026, and this return has been a long time coming. The Duster name still holds value among Indian SUV buyers, especially those who remember how it changed the market when it arrived in 2012. After being away for several years, Renault is bringing the SUV back at a time when midsize SUVs dominate sales charts. The new-generation model is expected to focus on modern design, updated interiors and petrol powertrains. With competition stronger than ever, the upcoming Duster aims to slot right into the heart of the segment and remind buyers why the nameplate once stood out on Indian roads.

The new Renault Duster will carry a fresh look while staying close to the identity that made the model popular earlier. The India-spec version is likely to differ from the Dacia model sold overseas, with design changes made for local buyers. Updates are expected around the front grille, LED headlamps and daytime running lamps. The rear may feature connected LED tail-lamps along with a revised bumper layout. Black cladding around the wheel arches and lower body is expected to continue, giving the SUV a proper road presence.

Globally, the Duster measures 4,300 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width and 1,600 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,672 mm, and these proportions are likely to remain the same for India. The overall design is expected to focus on clean lines and a more upright stance, making it look ready for daily driving as well as long trips.
The cabin of the new Duster is expected to feel far more up-to-date than before. The SUV is likely to come with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with a digital instrument cluster.

The feature list may also include a powered driver seat, electrically adjustable ORVMs, connected car tech, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, Level 2 ADAS and a panoramic sunroof.
Under the bonnet, the new Duster is expected to move away from diesel engines in India. Renault may introduce the SUV with petrol options only. This may include a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine producing around 154bhp, along with a differently tuned 1-litre turbo-petrol unit from the Kiger for lower variants. A strong-hybrid petrol version is expected to join the lineup later, possibly around a year after launch.

The 2026 Renault Duster is expected to be priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 20 lakh. It will take on popular midsize SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun. Final details on variants, features and prices will be revealed once Renault takes the wraps off the SUV tomorrow.
