The compact SUV segment in India continues to heat up with the arrival of the Nissan Magnite Facelift, poised to take on established rivals like the Tata Punch. Both models offer a combination of style, technology, and value, but each comes with distinct features that cater to different buyer preferences. The facelifted Magnite introduces several design tweaks, advanced safety features, and enhanced connectivity options. At the same time, the Tata Punch remains a strong contender with its rugged design, spacious interior, and well-rounded feature set. In this detailed spec comparison, we explore the key differences between the two compact SUVs, from engine performance to safety features, helping you decide which model aligns better with your needs and lifestyle.

Nissan Magnite Facelift vs Tata Punch: Dimensions

Nissan Magnite Facelift Rear

The Nissan Magnite measures 3,994mm in length, 1,758mm in width, and 1,572mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,500mm. In contrast, the Tata Punch is slightly more compact, with a length of 3,827mm, a width of 1,742mm, a height of 1,615mm, and a wheelbase of 2,445mm. However, the Magnite offers superior ground clearance at 205mm compared to the Punch's 187mm. Regarding cargo capacity, the Punch leads with a 366-litre boot, while the Magnite provides 336-litre of storage space.

The Nissan Magnite facelift retains its 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine, available in both naturally aspirated (NA) and turbocharged versions. The NA variant produces 71bhp and 96Nm of torque, while the turbocharged option boosts output to 99bhp and 160Nm of torque. Transmission options include a five-speed manual for both engine types, with the NA model also offering an AMT, and the turbocharged version featuring a CVT automatic for smoother performance.

Meanwhile, the Tata Punch is equipped with a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine, which also comes with the option of a factory-fitted CNG kit. In petrol mode, the engine produces 84bhp of power and 113Nm of torque. However, when running on CNG, the output is reduced to 72bhp and 103Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a five-speed manual transmission or an AMT, offering flexibility to suit different driving preferences.

The updates to the Magnite's cabin are subtle, featuring a new black and orange colour scheme along with leatherette padding on the dashboard, door panels, and around the centre console. However, the dashboard layout, AC vent design, and steering wheel remain unchanged from the pre-facelift version. The facelifted Magnite houses an 8-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, four-colour ambient lighting, and a wireless phone charger. On the safety front, it now includes six airbags as standard, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), an auto-dimming IRVM, and a 360-degree camera.

The Tata Punch SUV has a 10.25-inch touchscreen display integrated with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, and automatic air conditioning. It also boasts a 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, USB Type-C fast charger, wireless phone charger, grand console with an armrest, and rear air conditioning vents. For safety, the Punch is equipped with rear defoggers, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, a TPMS, and ISOFIX anchors.

Nissan Magnite Facelift vs Tata Punch: Price

The Magnite facelift is offered in six variants, with pricing starting at Rs 5.99 lakh and going up to Rs 11.50 lakh. On the other hand, the Tata Punch comes in ten variants, including options like Pure, Pure (O), Adventure, Adventure Rhythm, Adventure Sunroof, Adventure + Sunroof, Accomplished +, Accomplished + Sunroof, Creative +, and Creative + Sunroof. The Tata SUV is priced between Rs 6.13 lakh and Rs 10 lakh. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom.

The base-spec variants of the two models have a price difference of Rs 14,000, with the Punch being slightly more expensive. However, the top variant of the Punch is Rs 1.35 lakh more affordable compared to the highest trim of the Magnite facelift. It is important to note that the current prices for the Magnite are introductory and are likely to rise in the coming months.
